A note to editors

The page will be staying locked for a little bit longer. There is a lot of information to process, and if everybody tries to edit this page at once, there are going to be lots of edit conflicts. This can result in server stress, and also may prevent genuine information from being added. So just wait for a bit. If you've got something to add, doublecheck that it isn't there already and make a new section on this page. The administrators will add it to the article in time, provided it isn't baseless and has been confirmed either by our own editors playing through the games, or a number of other websites. We will unlock the page once the traffic has slowed a little. Thank you. —darklordtrom 01:42, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Less notable/important aesthetic changes?

I'm not sure about this or not, but is it worthwhile at all to mention somewhere these two cosmetic changes:

  • Water flowing can now be heard when standing near a body of water.
  • The Magnet Train's tracks now appear overground (like on Route 32).

TheChrisD RantsEdits 03:24, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Cheers. —darklordtrom 03:36, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
  • Just an addition to TheChrisD's posts, the game also has more sound effects in the overworld. Aside from the sound of water flowing, other sounds include the sound of the windmill when standing next to a windmill in New Bark Town and even just the sound of the player's walking on tall and short grass if you listen carefully.
  • Also, the Running Shoes can be put on via Touch Screen, allowing the player to run without having to hold the B button.

while the legendary beasts use a remixed version of their battle theme from Pokémon Crystal. Might want to note that the remix is slightly different for each gerbil beast (eg. Raikou's has faint thunderclap-like noises) Frugali 09:10, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Also to make note that Cerulean Cave and Seafoam are still active, Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno and Mewtwo are all capturable. Ggctuk 08:25, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
These are done. —darklordtrom 09:39, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

There's also the Game Boy Player which will replace all the game's music with the classic Game Boy Color version of the score. Ggctuk 19:43, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

PokéGear

It is not blue for Hibiki and pink for Kotone. The initial pattern is blue for both, but its skin is changeable to the pink version or other four models. -- RikkiKitsune 03:24, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. —darklordtrom 03:36, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Gym Leader Rematch Teams

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=960099&topic=51316486 Master Lucario

I would think to wait on this until another source could be found for this note. -Tyler53841 01:00, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
Now it looks like Serebii.net is starting to post the details for the Gym Leader rematches but at this moment it remains incomplete, so for now it looks like it is becoming more verified and one day I am sure it would be mentioned on this page when an administrator decides it is ready. My idea is just put it with the details for the Elite Four rematches since it is on the same subject. -Tyler53841 12:30, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Kris

Kris, despite being the female counterpart of Crystal's player character Gold, is believed not to be included as the female counterpart, with a new character instead taking her place. is this still valid or should this be changed/reworded? Do we completely accept Kotone as a new character now? ZestyCactus 01:07, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

It should be, thanks for pointing that out.--Midnight Blue 01:08, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Can anyone put this on Pokemon Heartgold and Soulsilver gallery?

Groundon.jpg can anyone do it? I can't do it cause is not letting me. The picture i want to be upload is the groundon fight thingy or something. - unsigned comment from DialgaPrimeX (talkcontribs)

no. for one thing, its horrific quality, and second, its stolen from Serebii. -- MAGNEDETH 07:43, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

It was my first day i did not know what to do :P- unsigned comment from DialgaPrimeX (talkcontribs)

Huh... that pic with Silver

Well, he got his sprite changed in the game. It is better to put in a new pic of battle with Silver. -- RikkiKitsune 07:33, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

We shall do so. TTEchidna 07:59, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Routes

Shouldn't we mention somewhere on the page that there are two new routes (47 and 48) were added? --Mr.lol 15:41, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

I think so. -- RikkiKitsune 21:02, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
Got it. —darklordtrom 21:30, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Mt. Silver

A minor update that should be made at some point is that Moltres can be caught in Mt. Silver and possibly put together with the Mt. Silver update with as few words as possible. -Tyler53841 21:54, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Done. —darklordtrom 20:35, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Edit Plz

Someone needs to put things in present tense on this page. Game's come out... so the page needs to act like it. XD CherryParanoia 02:02, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Where exactly are you talking about? Most of the info has been moved to present tense... except for HeartGold and SoulSilver will revisit the story of Johto. ZestyCactus 02:10, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
P.S. There's a stray apostrophe here: While the games' feature several expansions in key areas... ZestyCactus 02:10, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Done. —darklordtrom 20:35, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
"These games will be released in Japan almost exactly..." should be "These games were released in Japan almost exactly ..." CherryParanoia 00:12, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Not quite. JpPt was the 13th of September. HGSS was the 12th. —darklordtrom 04:57, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

One More Edit Request

If it's worth adding that is... In this game, players can use two items quickly. I don't remember how to say it, but there can be two quick select items (maybe that's the term) instead of one. They're numbered and the first can be activated by pressing (Y) but both are available on the touch screen. Kanjo 11:18, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Poké Gear's Radio Card is Essential

Does that count as a gameplay change? You need to complete the quiz to make Whitney give up on her attempts and return to the gym. Kanjo 11:37, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Done. —darklordtrom 20:35, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Gift's from Mom

When you let your mother buy you presents, she doesn't put them in your PC but you have to go to your "friendlyshop" (Poké Mart) or department store and the delivery man is waiting for you with a gift.

Also people take your picture with all your Pokémon and send it to your PC. (Camera men at various spots around the map. usually touristy)

could you always choose not to answer your phone? Kanjo 12:15, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Missing Pokemon List

Serebii.net has just created a version exclusive list at [1] so once somebody is ready then a Missing Pokemon list for this page. -Tyler53841 21:39, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Obtaining Hoenn and Sinnoh pokemon

http://www.serebii.net/heartgoldsoulsilver/hoennsinnoh.shtml

As you can see here, you can catch pokemon from Sinnoh and Hoenn by using the Pokéegear's radio.

Games Leaked

Can someone remove that? It is not notable. Almost every game in the last two generation has. Serebii has gotten his copies of Emerald, Diamond/Pearl, Platinum, and HeartGold/SoulSilver a few days early. --HoennMaster 04:03, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

I agree, once the game is properly released it's sort of irrelevant if it was leaked or not. Almost EVERYTHING major gets leaked nowadays anyway. ZestyCactus 18:36, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Trade Me!

How come alot of pokemon say on their locations box that they need to be traded in to heartgold and soulsilver, when thay can just be evolved from a pokemon that can be found in the wild. Take Kakuna for instance, you can find it in the national park in gold and silver, so you can probably catch it in the same way as well in HGSS. Or you could just evolve your weedle.--Minimag 06:16, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

"Trade" is the default on the template. If you know where the Pokémon are located, then you can fix it up yourself. Take a look at a page that has the correct information, and work out how to code it :) All help appreciated. —darklordtrom 08:32, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Version Exclusives?

We get a list of those yet? Serebii has one, but for all I know, they just used the ones from GS. --ケンジガール 06:30, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

From what I have seen, it is largely the same as GS, which is as expected. There are a few Hoenn/Sinnoh Pokémon there and everything I am aware of has been listed here. I will export it into this article now; I just didn't have the time when I first made the list. —darklordtrom 08:25, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Also with this new addition on their site [2], Kabuto (HeartGold) and Omanyte (SoulSilver) and their evolutions now make their lists since their fossils can now be found in the game via Rock Smash along with Aerodactyl's fossil and a few other items such as amongst them. So at some point new details about Rock Smash and the Fossils can be put in, though for the fossils it still remains unknown on where to go to revive them. -Tyler53841 15:51, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
the pewter museum is once again open so the fossils can be revived there UltamateCharizard 16:41, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
uh....im playing HeartGold and yesterday i found a Helix Fossil....-- MAGNEDETH 18:43, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Oy, need to do some serious talk on this and in case you don't know the dark lord tormbonator also updated the version exclusive pages other than the fact I updated the fossil Pokémon pages but I will revert my edits for the time being on Kabuto and Omanyte's pages. -Tyler53841 18:47, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

GAME PLAY Change!

I found out that in HG/SS, you can choose one of the three Kanto starters for yourself. It's true, a video with the real game that shows it! Oh, and an item that plays Gen. 2 music is also shown. --Spritemaster 20:49 18 September 2009 (UTC)

What's the criteria for getting the Kanto starter? ZestyCactus 20:59, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Beating Red on MT. Silver. ShinyPika 21:01, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, but we've know about this since before the games came out. --HoennMaster 12:25, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Do we have clear pictures of the second covers?

I know there is a second cover to the games. It looks similar to the G/S ones.--Midnight Blue 23:24, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Pokéball

Something that was posted on Serebii.net at [3] on the Pokéball section of that page is that the post-Generation II balls are available in the game. Until more details on this matter are acquired by someone who has a copy of HeartGold or SoulSilver then it should not be posted on this site to avoid misinformation. However though the only noteworthy thing that it has to this page is the addition of more Pokéball than any other Pokémon game. - unsigned comment from Tyler53841 (talkcontribs)

The small pond

In G/S/C, there was a small, inaccesible pond by the Pokemon Center in Cherrygrove City. This pond served only for city design (because the "border" of the city is "water", and the city finishes behind the PokeCenter, it seemed strange for water to be behind it, so that pond was created to make it look ok. But it is inaccesible). This pond is still in HG/SS, but it is now accesible from Route 30. Small detail I noticed, since that pond always called my attention. I thought it would be gone in these games, but no. I think this and some other details should be noted in the article. --Dr. James 03:15, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Is there anything special about the pond, or is it just there? See if you can find an item somewhere or a rare Pokémon by fishing. As for the other details, what do you think should be added? R.A. Hunter Blade 13:36, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Hehehe, well I still can't explore the pond; I haven't even still reached Violet City so I don't have Surf or anythimg. As for the other details, it would be great to have a list about differences between these games and G/S/C. Like for example, "In G/S/C, Gold obtains his Pokegear when he exits his room at the beginning of the game. In HG/SS, he obtains it after getting his first Pokemon". --Dr. James 16:25, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Um... there is a section named just that on the page... in fact, it's most of the page. Go look again. I'd like to crop this down in the next few days, and put all unnecessary information onto the related articles. This one is perhaps best suited for the Poké Gear article. —darklordtrom 20:01, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Giovanni

Should it be mentioned that Giovanni appears through a Celebi event? It's mentioned on Giovanni's page, but it is significant to gameplay because Giovanni never actually appeared in Gen II; he was only mentioned.--JacobCrystal 20:28, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Yeah alright then. —darklordtrom 20:35, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
