Synopsis
Template:Incomplete synopsis
Ash, Dawn, and Brock are aboard a ship heading back to Twinleaf Town, gradually growing more lonely as the trip goes on due to the realization that the three will soon split up. However, a Pichu appears, brightening everyone's mood, followed by a Teddiursa, Igglybuff, Azurill, and Cleffa.
However, all is not well. Team Rocket is stirring up trouble beneath the sea, disturbing some Tentacruel living peacefully at the bottom, and causing them to rush to the surface. Without warning, the Pokémon attack the ship, causing a great crisis.

Trivia
- There is no Professor Oak's Pokémon Lecture at the end of this episode. Instead, a preview of the Best Wishes series, featuring Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott was shown.
- Oración, Together With the Wind, and music from Route 29 are used as the background music in this episode.
- Ash, Brock, and Dawn narrate the preview of the next episode.
- While they are looking for treasure, Team Rocket make a reference to the games. They wonder if the treasure will be Gold, Silver, Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum.
- Despite the fact it has existed since Generation I and is known as Chansey's signature move (plus the fact that Chansey have made regular appearances in the anime since the second episode), this episode marks the first time that Softboiled is used in the anime.
Errors
- Despite Wynaut's Pokédex entries claiming that it is impossible for it not to smile, Wynaut was seen not smiling at several points during this episode.
