Team Rocket (Japanese: ?) is the name given to the fourth new expansion of new cards and Theme Decks for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. As its name implies, it was themed around the exploits of Team Rocket.
Set size: 82/83 in the US, 66 in Japan. Once again, Wizards did the holo/nonholo deal, as well as added a card they created, Dark Raichu.
Sequence: 5th set in North America, 5th set in the Japan.
Release date: April 24th, 2000 in North America, ??? in Japan. Toys R Us stores got it a few days earlier than in other parts of North America.
Miscellaneous:
- The Pokémon TCG's first Wizards-made card was released in this set; Dark Raichu.
- Despite popular rumors and commonly used phrases, the Pokémon were called "Dark". This was over the plain-sounding "Bad" or the possibly offensive "Evil" prefixes.
- The release of this set was stalled considerably, as it was six months between when Fossil and Team Rocket were released. This mostly had to do with Wizards trying to get approval from Nintendo to make Dark Raichu; Nintendo was holding out and Wizards couldn't get the set released without Dark Raichu.
Theme Decks: Devastation and Trouble.
