Lucy Stevens (Japanese: ルーシー Lucy) is one of the main characters of Pokémon Detective Pikachu. She is a junior reporter who is accompanied by a Psyduck. Lucy is portrayed by Kathryn Newton.
History
Lucy worked as a fluff columnist at CMN television headquarters. Unsatisfied with her menial job, Lucy always sought out to cover bigger news to no avail. Suspicious of detective Harry Goodman’s announced death in a car crash outside of Ryme City, Lucy, with her Psyduck, happened upon his son, Tim, and demanded information. Tim, whose had an estranged relationship with his father since childhood, didn’t comply. Lucy, despite minimal evidence, proposed her theories of Harry’s death to Roger Clifford, only to be harshly dismissed.
Tim, along with a talking, amnesiac deerstalker-clad Pikachu, eventually approach Lucy upon witnessing the aggressive effect chemical R has on Pokémon and learning from Roger Clifford that a Mewtwo that escaped from a secluded laboratory outside the city had apparently caused Harry’s crash. Lucy, Psyduck, Tim and Pikachu infiltrate the laboratory and learn that scientists were experimenting on Mewtwo, who had been recaptured after escaping 20 years earlier, and had apparently hired Harry to aid them. The group is chased out of the lab by several Greninja and escape into a field of colossal Torterra, during which Pikachu is injured.
Lucy and Psyduck stay behind while Tim and Pikachu are lured into the forest by Bulbasaur so Mewtwo can heal Pikachu’s injuries. Mewtwo, before it can reveal his true motives, is captured by Roger (actually a Ditto working for Howard Clifford under the alias Ms. Norman) and Pikachu leaves Tim, believing he had betrayed Harry to the vengeful legendary. Tim regroups with Lucy and they return to the city.
Tim goes to report his discoveries to Howard Clifford while Lucy impersonates a reporter to inform the mayor, who dismisses her. Meanwhile, Howard betrays Tim and transfers his consciousness into Mewtwo, using the chemical R to fuse people’s consciousnesses into their Pokémon, stating its the best way for people to evolve. Lucy, despite her attempts to warn the public to not have their Pokémon breath the gas, falls victim to Howard’s control and fuses with her Psyduck. Tim, Pikachu, who realized the truth upon coming across Harry’s crash site, and the real Roger work together to subdue Ms. Norman and break Howard’s control of Mewtwo.
Mewtwo, grateful for his rescue, returns the citizens and their Pokémon to normal while Howard is arrested. Roger realizes Lucy’s theories were correct and hires her as a genuine reporter with her first assignment to cover Howard’s plot. Lucy is ecstatic and she embraces Tim. The two agree to meet for a date.

- Main article: Lucy's Psyduck
Psyduck was Lucy's primary Pokémon, and is often seen outside of its Poké Ball. It is constantly seen with headaches, which causes Lucy to try and keep it calm. Psyduck was first seen spying on Tim Goodman when he arrived at his father's apartment.
Psyduck was next seen beside Lucy when she first met Tim. Later, when Tim went to CMN, Psyduck was seen in Lucy's "office". It accompanied its Trainer to Howard Clifford's secret lab. During the celebrations in Ryme City, Psyduck merged with its Trainer when the R substance was released in the city.
