Ilex Forest is located in Johto, directly west of Azalea.
The only important feature in Ilex is the shrine to Celebi.
In the Japanese version of Pokémon Crystal, if you placed the GS Ball on the shrine, Celebi would appear at level 30 to battle.
A family in Azalea goes out with their Farfetch'd to the Ilex Forest for firewood to make Charcoal.
