Teddiursa (Japanese: ヒメグマ Himeguma; German: Teddiursa; French: Teddiursa) is a Normal-type Pokémon.

Pokédex entries

Pokémon Emerald
It licks its palms that are sweetened by being soaked in honey. A Teddiursa makes its own honey by blending fruits and pollen collected by Beedrill.

Name origin

Teddiursa's name is a combination of teddy bear and ursa, Latin for bear. Its Japanese name may be a combination of 姫 hime, princess, and 熊 kuma, bear.

Teddiursa's appearance is based on the Sun Bear found in the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asian. Sun Bear cubs have a sort of stretched out "U" under their chin that resembles a pale yellow crescent moon, that darkens to a orange-yellow when full grown. They are also known as Honey Bears for obvious reasons. The bear is often tamed as a pet when young but becomes bad-tempered and dangerous as an adult.
