By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

Your Userpage

Hey, saw your comment on 'Deth's talk page, just thought I would pop over and enlighten you a bit. BTW, it is nice to meet you, my name is Jediknightdtv, most people call me Jedi for short here on the wiki. The reason why new users cannot create a userpage right out of the gate is because it is a privilege that is earned, after both a certain amount of time passes, and you have made a certain amount of edits. Now I am Psychic, I know what your next question is going to be: "How many edits? How much time?" The truth is, it is a limit that is automatically determined by the software of the wiki, set in place by the admins a long time ago. How long ago, I am not exactly sure, all I know is, it was before my time, and I have been around a year this summer. The reason why the admins put this policy in place is because a long time ago, a lot of people were joining the 'pedia, not in order to contribute to the mainspace (the encyclopedia on Pokémon, i.e. everything that is not the Userspace) but instead to do just enough edits to earn the privilege to edit their userpage, and then spent all of their time editing their userspace. In other words, they were treating the 'pedia like it was a social networking site, like Myspace or Facebook. This caused a tremendous amount of server load, and led to the admins taking away the ability to edit the userspace for everyone for a while. When the admins gave the privilege back, they instituted the current policy, including the restriction on not editing your userspace more than (currently) once per day. Your userspace consists of your main userpage, plus any/all related subpages that you create. The best advice I could give you as far as editing goes is lurk a little more, and try to see what makes a good edit. Then, when you feel comfortable, try looking at the list of wanted articles, or if you don't feel comfortable starting from scratch, you can try fixing some stub articles. Keep making good edits (i.e. that don't get reverted) and before you know it, you will be able to create your userpage. Hope that helps. If you have any more questions on anything, feel free to drop me a line on my talkpage. I love helping out new users such as yourself, after all, it wasn't so long ago that I was one myself, and I remember how confusing everything can be at first. BTW, I wouldn't go bugging the EiC of the wiki with questions like that. 'Deth is a busy guy (he is in charge of the whole 'pedia, after all), and if you have a question, it is always better to start at the Junior Administrator level (i.e. the bottom of the hierarchy of the staff) rather than the top, and if you can't/don't get an answer from them, work your way up the staff hierarchy. Just a thought. Anyway, cheers. --ジェダイの騎士デジタルテレビ 22:53, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
