Anyone think that Shinx looks an aweful lot like the classic anime character Kimba the Lion?[1] Manga-in-a-bottle

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Wouldn't be surprised if it were an intended reference. --Zeta 19:21, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

I think that the name is just Sphinx without the "p". And the Kolink is based on "ko", child and the English word "Lynx". --Stinkoman 19:44, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

About some certain trivia...

"When Shinx's letters are capitalized and flipped upside down, its letters remain the same."

I don't think so. This note is wrong because the letter "N" appears backwards under the aforementioned circumstances. SharKing 01:29, 15 September 2008 (UTC)SharKing

Who even bothered writing it in the first place? That's about the most pointless of all the bad trivia I've seen.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 05:13, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
What about those Arceus-based stat comparisons? Those bug me the most. SharKing 19:51, 16 September 2008 (UTC)SharKing
I know this topic is old, but, I do want to point out that if you flip it both horizontally AND vertically, the letters will remain the same, although this would still be pointless unless it is found Shinx is the only Pokémon whose name is capable of doing this. Plural?

What is the pural of shinx? Shinx or Shinxes? Same for Luxray? GoldHusky2009 21:54, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Shinx for Shinx and Luxray for Luxray. Turtwig A Contributions Talk 21:54, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Korechu

I was looking through the old April Fool's Day pages and I saw Korechu, and I was startled about how similar it looks to Shinx. Is this notable on this page, or that AFD page, or anywhere?--Purimpopoie 19:43, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Trivia

Should it be noted that in Diamond, there is a picnicker that has a Shinx at level 12 that can use spark, although Shinx isn't supposed to have that move until level 17? Karnik555 23:02, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

It's called breeding. Pokemon can have moves earlier than when they learn them naturally. Ataro 23:15, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Resemblance?

I really dont think that Shinx resembles Kimba the White Lion, could this be removed? - unsigned comment from Emeraldben (talkcontribs)

You do know who that is, right? Anyways, I think he does resemble Leo. I say keep it. Ataro 20:44, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
  • Yeah but there only apperance simalarities are that they are based off of lion cubs Emeraldben 20:15, 26 July 2011 (UTC) user:emeraldben

Name Origin

Couldn't Shinx just be a corruption of Sphinx, without any other prefixes? I mean, when you think about it, if you take the "p" out of Sphinx, what do you get? Shinx. Just wondering if that's an option. KyuremsIceBlade 00:11, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Could Shinx's name not be, in part, derived from blink/wink given that Luxray is the Gleam Eyes Pokémon.--ShinyPatch (talk) 20:02, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Untitled

Shinx has a new dex entry in the anime, please add it someone. Meanscreen (talk) 18:33, 4 May 2013 (UTC)Meanscreen

Breeding

Does Shinx really only have two possible egg moves in X/Y, or is it just that not all of them have been discovered yet? I'm used to there being at least ten entries in the "Moves Learned By Breeding" section.

I just discovered another way of getting Eerie Impulse on Shinx

If you find an Electrike with Eerie Impulse and breed it with a Luxray/Luxio/Shinx you can get Eerie Impulse. Therefore, Mareep is not the only way.

Then add it. Also sign your posts next time Mygs (talk) 21:55, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Exactly. If you can verify it from having done this personally, go ahead and add it.
However, in this case, I suggest do NOT add it. The reason for this is because, in order for Electrike to get Eerie Impulse, Mareep is still needed. We are noting the quickest route to get the move onto the Pokémon. I think it would not be prudent to add Electrike to this article nor this to the Electrike article because Mareep is required in both cases, and why would someone go through an Electrike or Mareep (unless they already have one with the move) when a Mareep will do just as well? It might be for breeding or IV purposes, but from the perspective of just getting the move, it's an unneeded step. CycloneGU (talk) 22:20, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
