What does it mean "Readying an attack" - Tesh - 21:59pm 9th July 2007

It means that it only works if the opponent is using a damage-dealing move. TTEchidna 21:21, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Ah, Thanks For That. - Tesh -

Term should be included

"Despite being called "Sucker Punch", it isn't really a punching attack, as many Pokémon that learn this attack do not even possess arms that can deliver a punch."

This sentence is useless on it's own as it does not explain why the move is called "Sucker Punch" despite Pokémon without arms learning it. Maybe the term for a sucker punch should be included with a reference to the direct Japanese translation as proof?

Why can't it be a punch? Gastly can learn Fire Punch, Ice Punch and ThunderPunch through breeding. It obviously has no arms. ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 15:04, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

A sucker punch isn't limited to a punch, it can be any type of attack. The term "sucker punch" refers to a tactic used to get the upperhand in a fight unfairly usually through deception and with the foe unaware. An example would be hitting someone in the back of the head from behind. Tywddle 15:15, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Twyddle is right. A sucker punch is pretty much nothing but a "cheap shot" in a fight; it doesn't matter if you punch them, kick them, or anything like that. Diachronos 16:13, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Used against sleeping/ frozen/paralysed/confused targets who do not wake/de-thaw/succeed move

I was wondering if sucker punch worked if a sleeping, frozen, paralysed, confused, immobilised etc. targets if they select a damaging move and do not actually use the move after sucker punch is used.

I was also wondering if moves that have no effect can be hit with a sucker punch. Thanks, Pokepro97 (talk) 10:53, 15 June 2014 (UTC).

Isn’t it a little wrong to imply that using Sucker Punch causes a palette change while using the move? Because I know it was never like that--KnightGalarie (talk) 05:14, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
