Lental (Japanese: レンティル地方 Lentil-chihō) is the name of the region that serves as the setting for New Pokémon Snap. It is an archipelago with various ecosystems such as beaches, jungles, and deserts.
History
The presence of ancient ruins on all the islands indicates that the region had been inhabited by humans for a very long time. 2000 years ago, the region was threatened by a meteor strike, but it was saved by the Illumina Pokémon creating a barrier over the region. 100 years prior to the game, a man named Captain Vince explored most of the islands and recorded the species of Pokémon he found, including some of the Illumina Pokémon.
Geography
Lental is an archipelago made up of four main islands, and many smaller islands. Each of these islands have differing climates which house varied ecosystems for various Pokémon species. Belusylva island is mostly a dense jungle. Throughout it the Mightywide river flows as you can see in all three research courses and in its center there is a group of mountains which are the location of the Elsewhere Forest. The Maricopia islands are a group of small, tropical islands surrounded by a coral reef. Voluca island has three distinct biomes. There is a desert featuring an oasis on the west coast, the fireflow volcano to the east and connecting them, a rocky badlands. The surface of Durice island is covered by a glacier.
