Every other challenge in the Trade category which involves specific Pokémon is very clearly a reference to something. These connections are usually pretty obvious, being: Regional Forms ("Trade Arcanine and Hisuian Arcanine!", "Trade Avalugg and Hisuian Avalugg", "Trade Braviary and Hisuian Braviary!", "Trade Corsola and Galarian Corsola!", "Trade Darmanitan and Galarian Darmanitan!", "Trade Electrode and Hisuian Electrode!", "Trade Farfetch'd and Galarian Farfetch'd!", "Trade Goodra and Hisuian Goodra!", "Trade Lilligant and Hisuian Lilligant", "Trade Linoone and Galarian Linoone!", "Trade Meowth and Galarian Meowth!", "Trade Mr. Mime and Galarian Mr. Mime!", "Trade Qwilfish and Hisuian Qwilfish!", "Trade Rapidash and Galarian Rapidash!" "Trade Slowking and Galarian Slowking!", "Trade Stunfisk and Galarian Stunfisk!", "Trade Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix!", "Trade Weezing and Galarian Weezing!", "Trade Yamask and Galarian Yamask!", and "Trade Zoroark and Hisuian Zoroark!") Regional Evolutions and their counterparts ("Trade Quagsire and Clodsire!", "Trade Scizor and Kleavor"*) Ecologically Similar Pokémon ("Trade Dugtrio and Wugtrio!", "Trade Polteagiest and Sinistcha!", "Trade Tentacruel and Toedscruel!") Version-Exclusive Pokémon/Pokémon with an established relationship ("Trade Armarouge and Ceruledge!", "Trade Cranidos and Shieldon!", "Trade Electivire and Magmortar!", "Trade Great Tusk and Iron Treads!", "Trade Koraidon and Miraidon!", "Trade Latias and Latios!", "Trade Lunatone and Solrock!", "Trade Pikachu and Mimikyu!", "Trade Pinsir and Heracross!", "Trade Plusle and Minun!", "Trade Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant!", "Trade Slither Wing and Iron Moth!", "Trade Throh and Sawk!", "Trade Zangoose and Seviper!") Members of the Same Evolutionary Family ("Trade Gardevoir and Gallade!", "Trade Glalie and Froslass!", "Trade Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan!") Significant Gender Variations ("Trade male Basculegion and female Basculegion!", "Trade male Meowstic and female Meowstic!", "Trade Nidoqueen and Nidoking!") General References ("Trade Nidorina and Gengar!" - Referencing the iconic battle from the rbgy games, "Trade Voltorb and Foongus!" - Both Pokémon resemble a Pokéball) Out of these referential categories, one challenge sticks out, "Trade Staryu and Luvdisc!" It's been suggested to me that this just be a reference to the popular design of hearts and stars but I feel like there's something more interesting in there. In Staryu's alola pokedex entries, it does mention fish nibbling on its limbs, which likely includes luvdisc, but its not a real specific connection.

If this would be better presented as a forum discussion please let me know so I can move it to the proper space, thank you! - unsigned comment from EnbySpaceSystem (talkcontribs)

Here is fine. I agree though, I'm not sure what's being referenced here. Might be as simple as these both being aquatic Pokémon with basic shapes. By the way, you can sign comments by adding four tildes (~~~~) to the end of your message (although don't do this for old messages as it leaves the wrong timestamp) Landfish7 05:09, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
