Cleffa (Japanese: ピィ Py, German: Pii, French: Melo) is a Normal-type Pokémon. It evolves into Clefairy.

Pokédex entries

Pokémon Emerald
On nights with many shooting stars, Cleffa can be seen dancing in a ring. They dance until daybreak, when they quench their thirst with the morning dew.

Name origin

Cleffa's name is a contraction of the name Clefairy, to indicate it is a pre-evolution. Clef is French for (musical) key. Its Japanese name is also a contraction of the name Pippi. The French name is a contraction of the word melody.

It is possible that its based on fairies and pixies, just like its evolutions.
