The Pokémon franchise first arrived in the South Asia in 2003, with the first broadcast of Pokémon - I Choose You! in English and Hindi language dub on Cartoon Network India which is available in most of the south asian countries including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Srilanka.

Pokémon Original Series
The first episode of Pokémon debuted on April 1, 2003 on Cartoon Network India as it was the most famous channel among children in South Asia. The show was started on Toonami block at 5:00 pm IST in the Hindi and English dub only. It has become one of the most popular shows on Cartoon Network. Cartoon Network India aired first two seasons of Pokémon straight but then suddenly they stopped airing new episodes after the 2nd season probably due to on-going dubbing process. They repeated the initial two seasons for few months. After a year, Cartoon Network started the 3rd season of Pokémon and then repeated it respectively. In 2004, Cartoon Network India started a separate feed for Pakistani viewers named as Cartoon Network Pakistan which was also available in Bangladesh. Both channels were in sink in airing the anime. Within few months, Cartoon Network India started to air Pokémon in two new dubbing languages including Tamil and Telegu. In the mid of 2005, Cartoon Network completed all the first 5 seasons a.k.a first original series of Pokémon. After the completion of first series on both channels in 2005, they repeated the full original series once again and finished its repeat telecast in 2006.
Pokémon Advanced Generation
The first season of Pokémon Advanced Generation series was aired in 2006 on both channels at the same time. AG001 debuted on May 9, 2006 on Cartoon Network India as well as on Cartoon Network Pakistan. Pokémon Advanced was available in two different languages english and hindi on Cartoon Network Pakistan and it was available in four different languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telegu and English on Cartoon Network India.
The first season of AG Series ended in the month of July in 2006 and then both Cartoon Networks started to show the repeats of it. After four months, both Cartoon Networks started to air new episodes of Pokémon and in this way Pokémon: Advanced Challenge debuted on November 6, 2006 and the trailers of the 7th season were also shown in indian theaters. It ended in the mid of January, 2007. After the 7th Season Cartoon Network Pakistan & Cartoon Network India took a long break of almost one full year and they only aired the old episodes of Pokémon. Finally, after a year Cartoon Network started the 8th season of Pokémon and the third season of Advanced Generation series Pokémon: Advanced Battle in the initial months of 2008 and it finished in the mid of the year. Four months later, Cartoon Network aired the final season of the Pokemon Advanced Generation series. Pokémon Battle Frontier debuted in the month of November, 2009, initially it debuted on Cartoon Network India only but after two weeks of its indian debut Cartoon Network Pakistan also started to air it. The 9th season of Pokémon ended at the end of january, 2009. After the completion of all the seasons of first and second series, both Cartoon Networks started the repeat telecast of old Pokémon episodes and they didn't aired any new episode for 10 months.
