Game Boy Advance Video
A Game Boy Advance Video is a cartridge that contains episodes of a cartoon or a movie that can be viewed on a Game Boy Advance. Each cartridge typically cost around $20. The cartridges were made incompatible with the Game Boy Player accessory due to issues with sound and video quality and so that users could not record the shows to media such as blank VHS tapes or DVDs.
The first cartridges contained episodes from the Pokémon anime. Later on, the series was expanded to include several more animated series, including Disney Channel and Nickelodeon shows and other anime such as Dragon Ball GT. A combination cartridge containing the films Shrek and Shark Tale was also released. Sony would later implement a similar concept with video-formatted UMD discs for the PlayStation Portable.
