Dragonite was used by Provo during his participation in the PokéRinger competition and initially seemed like it would be a tough Pokémon to defeat. It went up against Paul's Honchkrow in the first round, and appeared to be able to fly at high speeds as well as knowing powerful attacks. However Paul was using the tournament to increase Honchkrow's strength in battle and luck was not on Dragonite's side, as Honchkrow was able to land a critical hit with Sky Attack thanks to its ability and Dragonite was knocked out, costing Provo his title.
Dragonite's known attacks are Dragon Pulse, Dragon Rush and Fire Punch.

Trivia
- Provo's Japanese name sounds remarkably similar to the former champion of the Crossgate Town PokéRinger competition in Hoenn, Volt, from That's Just Swellow. It is more similar in the kana spellings of their names; ポルト Poruto and ボルト Boruto.
