Humans are a species that live in the Pokémon world. They live in all regions, except Pokémon World (Mystery Dungeon). They have no known genetic relationship to Pokémon at the present time, but according to Sinnoh myths, they coexisted as a single species (possibly Mew) and were one and the same. This species transformed between human form and Pokémon form often. Eventually, this species evolved (in the Darwinist sense) into humans and the various species of Pokémon seen today. At the present time, the species of Pokémon that are the most similar to humans is the Humanshape egg group.
Humans, like {{wp:Human|in the real world}}, are the dominant species; and have achieved many technological breakthroughs. They created artificial Pokémon like Porygon and Mewtwo.
Relationship between humans and Pokémon
The relationship between humans and Pokémon is a close one, and is studied by Professor Oak. Thousands of years ago, tribes of humans lived with Unown in ruins. The ancient people who lived in Snowpoint City lived with Regigigas but sealed it and the legendary golems away when they began to fear its power. Humans hunted Pokémon for food, kept them as pets, and used them for travel.
Some humans are Pokémon Trainers who train Pokémon for battle and companionship; some are Pokémon Rangers who team up with Pokémon to protect them and their environment; some are Pokémon Breeders who raise and breed Pokémon to genetic perfection and health; and some are Pokémon Coordinators who use Pokémon for style and beauty. The Pokémon Association enforces laws regarding how humans interact with Pokémon.
