User talk:SnorlaxMonster#About stuff

You said to remind you if you left it too long. I think this is long enough. --SnorlaxMonster 10:13, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Me too. —darklordtrom 10:58, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I'm new

I need a bit of help, and this is pretty odd, but... How do I get new box backgrounds in Jubilife TV, again?

TogePikachu 07:41, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

The best place to ask questions like this is on the Bulbagarden forums. However: the box background is called wallpaper and we have an article about that with links to generators. —darklordtrom 07:45, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Archive Images

Hello Trom. I know it says not to ask, but I need some of the images |moved on the archive as some of those are over a month old. I mainly need the Sprout Tower and Union Cave Eyecatches moved as I fixed the pages to correspond with their new locations. If I get could get some help it would be much appreciated. Thanks! –MasterKenobi 20:44, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Done. Next time though, don't create new images. Redirects work wonders. Don't forget about the DPPtHGSS sprites. We don't have a a:File:Spr 4p 001.png for instance. That's just a redirect. MK, can you upload Curelean Cave-Day though? ht14 20:48, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Ht for doing that for me. I will make sure to use redirects, it just that I didn't know exactly how those worked for images. It was also so people didn't look at it and think that we were being inaccurate or something. Cerulean Cave was one of the first ones that I was working on so I forgot to check to make sure every image was there. I will make sure to upload it though and look over the rest. Thanks again. –MasterKenobi 05:37, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Body?

Found one more: Template:GlitchPkmnInfobox, but it's hidden so only gen 3 and 4 Pokémon have it. --SnorlaxMonster 11:44, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Done. As is the other glitch template thing you got me to do ↑up there↑ (if you hadn't noticed). —darklordtrom 11:47, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I saw that. I started removing those Color redirects from articles, but there is still a problem with Template:Moveentry and Template:Movelistglitch. --SnorlaxMonster 12:22, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Also, the defaults on Template:GlitchEvobox/Setup simply need to be changed from Bird to Unknown. --SnorlaxMonster 12:50, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Evobox is done. I don't see what needs to be chaned on moveentry - this template is used on move articles only. Do you perhaps mean {{mlentry1}}? Regarding {{Movelistglitch}}: just put "Unknown" for the variable that would usually be a glitch type. The type is not written down anywhere on the template; all you are doing is calling a color template. —darklordtrom 13:03, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
It is written on the template, down the type column. So Glitch should be used instead of IIIItoto here? As for move entry, it's used here and here. --SnorlaxMonster 13:17, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
That's actually on a different template which I have located and updated. The moventry should be done too now. Any further demands requests you have will be dealt with once I've woken up... in, like, five hours D: —darklordtrom 13:26, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Retrieving sprites

Can u retrieve the egg sprites from Project:CustomSprites that would be very much appreciated. DoTheWave 02:41, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Given the sheer volume of sprites that will take up a large amount of time that I currently don't have. I'll see what I can do later in the week, but no promises. —darklordtrom 06:55, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Sorry to barge in, but what do you need them for? If anything, ask Tavisource. ht14 21:00, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Tavis is not an admin. Unless he has all sprites saved on his computer, he won't be able to help. --electAbuzzzz 19:02, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
I know that, I'm just thinking that he has them on him, that's all. ht14 21:15, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Redirection Question

Hey trom, need to ask something. There are two characters with the same name Shū. One is Drew from Advanced Generation and the other one is from Pokémon Get da ze!. The thing is that there is no redirection to Drew's article when we search Shu, it directly jump to that manga shu article. Shouldn't there be a disambiguation? Because Shu (that anime one) isn't a minor character afterall. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 14:39, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

My personal opinion on this issue is that the article at Shū should stay the manga character with the hatnote it currently has (the thing that says "If you were looking for...") because that is the only name we have for that character, whereas we have an English name for the other guy. If any of my talk page stalkers want to chime in, I'd like to hear what they have to say on this :) —darklordtrom 20:38, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey, it's him again. Go through the Archives deletion logs and you'll see what I mean ;)
Next time, don't forget to plonk a warning message on his talk page. That'll help us notice anything in future. —darklordtrom 00:46, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
No prob. I'll be looking out for him on Bulbanews. tc²₆tc26 00:53, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Crystal

Sorry about removing that chunk without an explanation. I usually leave one, just was lazy tonight. I didn't think it was necesarry to have the starter Pokémon names, just seemed too long. I am gonna re-add about how the rival chooses the starter that the player's is weak is against. My bad. Jedi Striker 06:12, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

It's forgivable, but please don't be lazy. It can be really confusing to see a large chunk of text vanish with no explanation. Again, I urge you to use the link templates as mentioned by Zesty Cactus on your talk page. They'll prevent you from unintentionally linking to redirects or disambiguation pages. —darklordtrom 06:14, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Isshu Starters

Hey trom, apparently almost everything related to Pokabu, Tsutaaja and Mijumaru is under protection including there images. I've crystal clear + clean artwork images of these starters but I don't have the permission to upload them neither do any other normal user. Can you please add/upload them? Another user have also provided it's link (as he uploaded it on imageshack), you can save it from there and upload it here. Thank you. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 09:57, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

A concern with images is whether the image is fan-made or not. Where did you find the art from? —darklordtrom 10:11, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
It's fan edited (check Pokabu's back leg and Tsutaaja tail). By the way, the BW site says BW will be released Fall 2010. Page here only says 2010. tc²₆tc26 10:16, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Hmm... didn't noticed that. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 10:25, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Jioruji and I decided that including fan-edited art isn't necessarily a bad thing provided it is from an obscured scan and is noted as such. —darklordtrom 10:53, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Gen 5 Artwork

I figured an Admin would be the best person to talk to - if we want artwork not edited from Coro Coro...yeah. Drake Clawfang 20:55, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Most of it is already uploaded, if you bothered to check the Archives. Jello 21:13, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Just trying to be helpful, no need to be a dick. Drake Clawfang 22:00, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Jello was also trying to be helpful. If you want to upload stuff that's from the official BW site that's fine, but you need check that it's not there already. And follow the naming conventions, guys. File:bw-1.jpg is not a descriptive name at all. We want to know what the image is about before we see it. —darklordtrom 02:38, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, about the copyright

I personally, and by hand, cut out those sprites from multiple Sprite Sheets found on Google, not Bulbapedia. Yes, we might have a few ideas from your site, but you can't prove that any of those images were from Bulbapedia. As for our Diamond, Golden, Silver, and Bronze Charizard awards that we present to our best contributors, yes, it was an idea from Bulbapedia, however they're different as our site mascot is Charizard, not Bulbasaur. We don't have any GIFs that are in identical motion with any of yours, so you have no legal proof that those images are yours. As for giving credit? We plan to put your URL as a cousin site from ours on one of our high-traffic pages, in time. —RockSmashGuy 05:04, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Woah, way to get out of hand. Please stay calm.
I was never saying that you stole the images themselves from Bulbapedia. Stuff that's ripped from the games is anyone's content, after all. That part of my post was more to do with the fact that our naming conventions had been used. While we can't hold claim to them, it's a little upsetting to see something that Bulbapedia used developed on another site.
I had no idea you were using Golden Charizards. Don't get too defensive.
My main concern, and the concern of the Editorial Board, was that you took a whole stack of templates without permission. This violates the terms and conditions of Bulbapedia. A lot of users put their time and effort into creating those templates, and their work cannot be recognized without providing attribution at the time of publication.
Finally, if you want to continue any discussion, please do so on this page now that you have brought the issue to the BP end. Thanks. —darklordtrom 05:14, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
Okay then, we'll try to make our own templates. Thanks for not escalating the problem ;). RockSmashGuy
Please ensure that you not only use your own original templates, but also remove all work unfairly taken from Bulbapedia. Editorial Board page, I'm looking at you D: —darklordtrom 05:43, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
Don't upload any copyrighted images here, even if you have permission. Period. The reason behind that is that we generally want to stay out of the copyright stuff, as a precaution.
Every single image, picture, animation, and sprite of a Pokémon is copyrighted. —darklordtrom 05:52, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
You know that quote isn't represented literally! So, if it's copyrighted, doesn't Bulbapedia need permission to have them, Mr. Literal? Bulbapedia has no legal ownership over any sprites, so watch your mouth there, buddy. RockSmashGuy
Excuse me? Watch my mouth? Please refrain from harassing staff members. I'm only trying to help you.
Bulbapedia knows that the images are copyright, and we use them under fair use guidelines. I was only pointing out that by prohibiting copyright images, you shouldn't have all those sprites (e.g. File:Spr 3r 003 s.png). Why do you keep bringing up the issue of stolen sprites? I never said you stole our sprites. —darklordtrom 06:14, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Illusion

I'd like to make this page, however it is protected from being made. What should I do? SpecialK Leiks Lucario and the Celebi Glitch 12:48, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Don't make it. It's protected so that it will have no speculation. Right now the page would say "This is the ability of Zoroark and Zoroa. It makes them take the sprite of of the opposing Pokémon." When we have a substantial amount of information to make a page, an admin will.--SnorlaxMonster 13:19, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Trainer template?

Hi Trom, I was playing around and tried making one and I could use feedback. Or are you the wrong person to ask. Anyhow, thanks--FlyingSkymin23 22:38, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

For a start, you've broken the wiki. ... Kidding. But notice how the sidebar is all the way at the bottom? You haven't closed some tags that you've opened. Secondly, TTE got there first. —darklordtrom 00:58, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
D'oh! I guess I should stop trying to make templates now. BTW, do you know if he made a wild pokémon encounter table template with roundy corners? Because I was playing around with that idea. (Hopefully, my dreams aren't smashed).--FlyingSkymin23 01:21, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

It's not as impressive as it sounds. Basically I read it in the TV Guide at my grandma's house the day before it aired, on that day I drove back to my city, and then the day it aired I was at work. —darklordtrom 06:52, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

I got it!

I got a template giving credit to Bulbapedia on the pages its used on here. I'll try to set up a time where i can insert the template into the proper pages :). I'm getting really sleepy, as I stayed up all night last night. —RockSmashGuy 15:14, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

That's a start. I strongly recommend that you completely recode everything you've taken from Bulbapedia, though. Give the wiki your own personal touch (because that EB page, although recolored and square, is still blatantly "borrowed"). —darklordtrom 06:52, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Need some possible help

I recently found an important conversation at Talk:List of Pokémon by National Pokédex number regarding a problem with the NDex link that someone noted at that talk page. Could you look into because if I recall that link follows the NDex follows the listing from Generation II and since the National Dex listing is locked down I am going to need your help for that page at least. -Tyler53841

I don't have time to fix it now. If I temporarily unprotect the page, can you work fast? —darklordtrom 07:57, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
Better yet remove the link from there, I deal with the rest of the stuff right now. -Tyler53841 08:00, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
NDex page is unprotected for you. Don't tell anyone and make your edits quick :P —darklordtrom 08:09, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
It's done though I might had made an unintentional mistake in my summary, but that was before I saw you response so hurry and re-protect and seriously I hope you do not get in trouble for this since I did offer you a way out of doing this and I'd feel partly responsible. -Tyler53841 08:15, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
Huh. That wasn't the problem I had in mind. But thanks anyway. —darklordtrom 08:58, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Sorry about last night, but I did send a message to Kogoro that something needs to be done to eliminate confusion to other people since one my secondary objectives is to clear up confusion whenever possible. -Tyler53841 01:24, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

My point is that if I could be confused and the people who wrote on that talk page can be confused then without an invisible note to the National Pokedex page regarding that confusing link then it would cause more problems. P.S. I feel REALLY BAD about that mistake that I am filled with anger and sadness from that unintentional mistake and for getting you involved in it that it I am upset about myself so please, don't make me feel worse. -Tyler53841 01:36, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
In the fandom, NDex means National Dex. That is why the redirect is where it is. If people want to get to the NewDex for whatever reason, they're likely to search for that instead. —darklordtrom 03:00, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Right didn't know that and thank you. Also during my long walk I took I also realized that deep down we both made mistakes that we have to live with. -Tyler53841 03:40, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Image Issue

Right now on the player characters page there is a problem with the image for the main characters of Gen. V. What I do know is that even though it has the same file name on the Archives, it is not linking with it properly, and there is a chance that the size re-adjustment might be part of the problem, which I just confirmed from recent previewing. If you have the time then can you look into it? -Tyler53841 05:16, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Physiology for the starters

Pokabu: "Pokabu is a pig-like Pokémon, primarily orange in coloration with the additional colors of black, pink, and yellow on various portions of its body. It has large, ovular eyes, an archetypically piglike ruddy-pink nose, and a thick stripe of yellow over its snout. Much of its face has black coloration, and its ears, long and oblong, are positioned closely together on the top of its head. Pokabu has short legs, with the extremities of its forefeet being black in coloration. There is a band of black on its lower back and rear, from which extends its coiled tail, topped with a ruddy-red bauble-like adornment." Hopefully this helps. Also, I was not sure if its extremities---farthermost portions of its limbs--- should be called hooves or paws, so I left it at "extremities". (I was not sure if you noticed that I put this on its page previously...) Steph 14:32, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

I preferred the old name. But hey, I'm a creature of nostalgia. Reunify your global account, and log in on Archives and News. Apologies about the Pullman references; it was either that or Doctor Who, and I wasn't in a mood for quoting Christopher Eccleston. —darklordtrom 11:57, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Project Ranger

Welcome. I am Donnaclus, and I noticed that Bulbapedia has far too many stubs regarding the Pokémon Ranger games. I want to create an ongoing project to help fix all destroyed Ranger articles. I will need your approval, though. If you'd like to reply using my Usertalk, click right here. Also please feel free to reply here. --Donn.::.(Usertalk) 19:31, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm not Trom BUT... If I'm not mistaken, I think the Pokémon Ranger series falls under Project Games. You could bring it up on their talkpage that all the Ranger articles kind of suck (I'd edit them more myself, I love the Ranger games, but I haven't played them in ages D:) --ZestyCactus 20:23, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Zesty Cactus is right. All articles relating to the video games share the same category: Project Games. What I suggest you do, in this situation, is work with Umeko, the Project Leader, to establish a Ranger to-do list which users can then work through.
The next time you write on my talk page, please don't resign it three times. The extra, unneeded edits may strain our fragile server. —darklordtrom 20:33, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

MS links

About a month ago I mentioned to TTE that most of the MS links weren't leading to the right place, and he said to fix them. I've done all the mainspace/templatespace ones I can (with a bit of help from a few others), but now the only ones left are protected templates. They need a (Pokémon) inserted in the MS link after the parameter. The templates in question are:

Could you/another admin change these when you get the time please? Werdnae (talk) 07:04, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Images?

Hi Trom. Who do I go to if I want certain images to be uploaded, and I can't do them myself? Littlmiget123 15:22, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Me. Upload them to an image sharing site and give me the URLs. If they're above the 2MB limit, though, no one will be able to upload them. Why can't you do it yourself, may I ask? —darklordtrom 05:48, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
Sorry for the late response. I went away for the weeekend. Well, there are alot of images that need to be updated from HG/SS, and I don't know where to get them. For example, Route 32. Littlmiget123 22:14, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Ah. Well if you don't have the images, and I don't have the images, there's not a lot we can do. We should probably get some sort of "requests for images" page going... I'll think that over. —darklordtrom 22:34, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Okay, that's awesome, thanks. If I look, maybe I will find them somewhere, but thanks. Littlmiget123 00:30, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Max's Ralts

Did you not see what I had on that talk page? Max's Ralts IS a notable article, under the grounds that it counts as a CotD. The ENTIRE episode was focused on it. There weren't any human CotDs in that episode. I swear, is that rule going to be completely unused?

And Misty's Golduck was deleted before that rule was even thought of. It should be remade as well. - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 12:18, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

I saw what you wrote and I know what the rule says. I likened it to Misty's Golduck as that was how the Project Anime leader Kenji-girl described it as, but a better analogy may have been Cassandra's Parasect. My main reasoning is that if the information can fit into a box on a human character's page, it is better off there. Keeping down the smaller articles in favour of fuller articles is the idea behind this policy. The only information I didn't carry across was the trivia about Wally, because that is already mentioned in Max's article. —darklordtrom 12:24, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Favor to ask

Can you nip on over to List of Pokémon by Isshu Pokédex number and edit it to reflect that we now know Zekrom and Reshiram are at least part-Dragon type? Thanks. Shady got PokémonDollar.png10,000 for winning 14:34, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

They may or may not be Dragon-types

This really pisses me off: People automatically assuming something when we only know something else. We do NOT have any confirmation that they are any type as of yet. Has it been stated by Daisuki Club that they are the "Legendary Dragon Pokemon"?Yes, they said that. I'm not denying it. But that sounds too suspicious if you ask me. Why word it like a Pokedex entry? Perhaps they are like the Komodo Dragon and are only Dragon in name only. We have nothing confirmed (except for maybe Zekrom being Electric but meh) and since this is a wiki based on the facts, as most wikis are, we shouldn't interpret a rumor as fact. Please edit the Zekrom and Reshiram pages so that they are not listed as Dragon-types. --Mackinz of SoulSilver 17:09, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

What in the world brought this on? I mean, I agree with you, but exactly why are you railing on Trom about this when he isn't even online right now? 梅子 18:04, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
Sorry Umeko-san, it's just that I saw him reply on Talk:Zekrom (Pokémon) (Part of being a Pokémon encyclopedia is reporting what we know. We know that they're Dragon-type. We don't know anything else about their types. That's why it says Dragon and nothing else (not even a ???). —darklordtrom 12:49, 30 May 2010 (UTC) ) and, while it was a week back, I still can't believe he admits that he accepts fan-based (while not unfounded) speculation as FACT. That's why I railed on him. I just can't believe people can be so assuming. Could someone please explain to the admins and mods that the typing is not confirmed by anyone, ANYWHERE. --Mackinz of SoulSilver 18:36, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
If we're wrong, we'll change it. It's not a big deal. The typing will probably be revealed tommorow on Pokémon Sunday. CuboneKing 18:42, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, it's actually today that Pokémon Sunday is airing. I'm recording it so I can upload it to my YouTube so people who weren't able to watch it can watch it. The links on my user page and, if the recorder doesn't crap out like last week, they'll be up by 5pm here. --Mackinz of SoulSilver 18:49, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
I'll be sure to check, since your 5 PM is my 5 PM (I checked your page) :P CuboneKing 18:53, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
I have been discussing with the other admins the issue about their types still being uncertain. It's just not really a priority right now, so not much headway has been made. While yes, we do want to be as factual possible, it's not really the end of the world if we accidentally have information that may end up to be untrue on the pedia for a little while due to a misunderstanding.
I have not taken the initiative to change the typings myself, because it would not be prudent of me to do so without getting the others to agree first.
Finally, there's really no need to add "-san" to my name. Just Umeko is fine. 梅子 18:56, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
Thank for discussing it with the other admins, Umeko.
Just so you guys know, I'm not denying the fact that they could be Dragon-types, I'm just denying the fact that it's been confirmed that they are. If I sound angry, which I'm sure I do, rest assured it is only because I am unsure how to tackle a general assumption by many thousands(?) of people and get easily mad when people mix rumors with fact (same with Arceus and the god complex). --Mackinz of SoulSilver 19:03, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, I thought it was confirmed that they were Dragon-type? I don't speak Japanese, so I was only going off what other people had told me. Umeko, did the other staff give any final verdict?darklordtrom 05:22, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

TROM

Could you block Nazzys please. He's is an apparent vandal, and wrote a disturbing message here. I plopped a warning on his talk, but i'm not sure he took it seriously. Thanks!

Dude with two accounts

this fellow made a second account, can you take care of it for me? Thanks man :D --ZestyCactus 15:42, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

All done. —darklordtrom 10:28, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Talk page comments

Um...i'm not sure if i have to be an admin to tell you this, but don't erase talk page comments for no reason. Flyingtypefan 03:33, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

EDIT: Okay, so according to your edit summary, it was the wrong projet. I thought since it was a fan-term, it should go there. I was wrong. But still, you shouldn't have erased it. Flyingtypefan 03:40, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
...Trom is a member of the Editorial Board. CuboneKing 03:43, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

I didn't think anybody could erase talk page comments unless they were spam. And i didn't know he moved it rather than erasing it. Sorry. :( Flyingtypefan 03:46, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Yeah. And stuff. All cool now. —darklordtrom 10:28, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Confirmed something

I confirmed the other day through luck that the highest level in the Voltorb Flip is level 8. Since you posted a note in that page regarding the topic I figured I should let you know. On that talkpage I put down the summary of my experience. Just to note if I hadn't seen it too clearly then I wouldn't consider it confirmed since all the conformations I have done for this site involve careful and clear observation. If you don't want to post that information on the Voltorb Flip page without additional conformation I understand since this is not something easy to confirm. -Tyler53841 04:43, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Err, how exactly is his username unacceptible? I was curious, so I went over the username policy. It's not obscene, it's not impersonating anyone, it's not named after a Bulbapedia admin or function, it's just a slightly long string of the letter Q. Annoying at the worst, yes, but certainly nothing harmful. Or am I missing something here? - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 11:35, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
