An Old Family Blend! (Japanese: 熱戦前夜!サトシのポケモン大集合!! Eve of Battle! Satoshi's Pokémon All Together!!) is the 182nd episode of the Diamond & Pearl series, and the 648th episode of the Pokémon anime. It first aired in Japan on June 24, 2010 and in the United States on November 20, 2010.
Synopsis
The gang has finally reached Lily of the Valley Island. Ash registers for the League at the Pokémon Center, while Team Rocket watches. Next they head to Trainer's Village. While there, they bump into Conway who says that he will be competing too. Inside the hotel room, Ash finds a basket of roses with a good-luck card from Professor Oak. Ash calls Oak and tells him to send some of his reserve Pokémon for training. But the Poké Balls get separated from Team Rocket, so Ash and co. search and finds Totodile, Corphish, Snorlax (sent by mistake; Oak was supposed to send in Heracross), and Bayleef. Cyndaquil is left, but Team Rocket finds it first. It then uses its new move Flame Wheel to crash into a tree and set it on fire. Ash and the others see the smoke and find it. After the kids put out the fire, they begin to destroy the machine however the mecha fixes itself and Team Rocket goes after Cyndaquil once more. Just as they reach for it, Cyndaquil suddenly evolves into Quilava to protect itself. Quilava immediately learns Eruption to blast off Team Rocket. They then celebrate. After that, Glalie, Torkoal, Donphan, Noctowl and Muk show up so Ash can start his training session. At last, the Sinnoh League starts and Ash's first opponent will be Nando. Who will win?

Trivia
- Professor Oak's Pokémon lecture: Gardevoir
- This is the first episode of the eight-part 'Lily of the Valley Conference' arc.
- This marks the first time a legendary Pokémon, Heatran, is seen being entered in a Pokémon League competition.
- Pokémon Symphonic Medley 2 and music from Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea were used in this episode.
- One of the badges that appear on a screen at the end of the episode is the same unknown red badge that has been seen among the badges owned by both Barry and Nando in previous episodes.
- If one of looks closely at the entrance sign in the beginning of the episode, they could see the word Suzuran, the Japanese name of the Conference, written in the text.
- Among some of the less practical tools on Team Rocket's multi-armed mech are a folding fan, a concrete scraper, a pair of barbecue tongs, and a measuring triangle.
- They also seem to use a golden mallet; this and the folding fan are both items in Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Errors
- In the scene in Oak's lab with Heracross and Bulbasaur, the top of Heracross's horn is missing when Oak checks his list.
- Near the end of the episode, where all the trainers are lined up inside the stadium, a green eyed Jigglypuff appears with its trainer. This however may be a shiny pokemon, but it also may be a colouring error.
