Dent's Yanappu (Japanese: デントのヤナップ Dent's Yanappu) is the first Pokémon Dent was known to have. It first appeared in BW005.
History
Yanappu is Dent's first Pokémon; it made its first appearance in BW005 where he showed it to Ash who scanned it on his Pokédex before battling.
Yanappu was the third and final Pokémon Ash faced in his Gym battle, where it went up against Ash's Oshawott. However, Yanappu dodged all of its attacks with ease and hit Oshawott quite hard with Bullet Seed and Bite. After Oshawott finally hit a midair Yanappu with Water Gun, Yanappu started charging SolarBeam, which petrified Oshawott with fear. It appeared again in the very next episode where it was defeated by Oshawott, earning Ash his first badge in the Unova region. At the end of the episode, Dent takes Yanappu with him while he travels with Ash and Iris.
In BW009, Dent used Yanappu in a battle against Iris's Kibago to help Kibago gain some battle experience. Even though Yanappu significantly lowered its own attack power, Kibago was thrown off by its attacks. The battle ended when Kibago used Dragon Rage which caused an explosion that took Yanappu, as well as everyone else, by surprise.
In BW011, Yanappu was used to help track down a group of Ishizumai by using Dig. It was injured by the one Ishizumai that it was trying to help. The Ishizumai apologized and a friendship was formed. It later fell ill because of the injury and was given a herbal remedy made by Iris. In the morning, after Yanappu recovered, it assisted Ishizumai in getting its rock back. Yanappu was very happy when Ishizumai decided to travel with Dent and itself, so that their friendship can continue.
