about name origin
I think I found the choro part's ethymology. ちょろまかす choromakasu means to pilfer, to filch, to make off with, which fits the stealing nature explained in the pokédex entry very well. The neko part of the name is obvious of course. ㊰ブラッキーシュリー 00:21, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, I was thinking it meant "black cat" since everyone knows "neko" is cat in Japanese. --☯ *Ɣℯ№ӎօṫհ* ☯ 21:37, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- I think the choro comes from ちょろちょろ, which means in trickles. Searching google, I've found many cats named/qualified as ちょろ because of their fur having some spots with diferent color. Blow 02:50, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Trivia
- Choroneko and Poochyena are the only Pokémon that can be found normally on the first accessible route of a main region that are not Normal, Flying or Bug-type Pokémon.
Choroneko can't be found on Route 1. I am Darth Mewtwo... Fear me, and my team made entirely of Mewtwo!!! 19:47, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
