Trivia
- Agatha makes her anime debut, meaning that all the members of the original Elite Four of Kanto from Generation I have appeared in the series. This also makes Ash and Pikachu the only known characters to have met all of them.
- Jessie talks about Antarctica, the place where their next assignment is located. She doesn't appear to know that it is the coldest, driest, and windiest of all seven continents.
- This is the last episode to feature Ted Lewis as Giovanni (until The Thief That Keeps on Thieving!), Andi Whaley as Cassidy, and Eric Stuart as Butch.
- When James says "Castle in the Sky," he makes a reference to the Studio Ghibli film.
- The English title of this episode is a pun on the term "the dream team".
- After parting ways with Max and May, Ash and Brock walk to Kanto from Hoenn. However, according to the maps of Kanto and Hoenn, the two regions are not connected by land or bridge. How they managed to walk from Littleroot Town to Pallet Town and Pewter City in under a day is unknown. Additionally, Professor Birch and Max are shown arriving at Ash's home at the end with his jeep, within hours of Max's return home.
- Despite it featuring in over 100 episodes in multiple seasons, this is the first time that the Kanto region has ever been named in the anime. It was mentioned by Scott in his explanation of the Battle Frontier (which he stated was "throughout the Kanto region"). The region's name had never peviously been mentioned.
