This page is an autobiographical entry about a Bulbapedia contributor. As a result, it contains information of an unencylopedic and/or irrelevant nature (Well, irrelevant to you, anyway.). Names haven't been changed, if included - screw the innocent. Please feel free to make grammatical or spelling corrections, or, if there's a relevant link, add it. And only those. Questions and suggestions, if you've got them, are for the talk page.

First Pokémon Experience

The first time I ever played Pokémon was in '90 something - not that special, I was born in '91, but whatever. It was my older stepbrother Paul's copy - I think it was both Blue and Red version though I'm sure he had Yellow too - and he let my brother and I play provided we start a new game and didn't save it. We might have anyway 'cuz, hell, we were seven and had ADD.

And then my mom heard about some kid trying to choke/kill his teacher because s/he took away his/her Pokémon cards. Add to that her background of legalist Christianity - she thought they looked like demons, and in some respects, they do - and Pokémon was effectively banned from the household. Paul was luckier in this respect, as he was a son from an earlier mairrage. Since the father had custody, he was free from this ban.

Pokémon Gold

Pretty self-evident. At one point during 6th grade, I bought myself a Game Boy (I'm not sure what type anymore, or if I've even got my sequence of events straight) and a copy of Pokémon Gold from a guy I knew in school for 10 cold, hard, U.S. dollars. However, mom still didn't like Pokémon, so I kept it secret from her - at first, the whole deal, but later just the fact that it was a Pokémon game. (I'm not so sure I needed to these days, but given the chance, I wouldn't change a thing.) I played with the name "Taylor". That's not my name. I just liked it.

There were a few frustrations with it - both the game, and hiding it from Mom. First of all, sometimes I would turn on the game and the file would have magically erase itself. If this has happened to you before or you know what caused it, please, for the love of God, tell me. I need closure. And then, a few days after I got it, I almost got caught. See, I would play it waiting for Mom to pick me up from school. This was a bit dumb of me, for Mom pulled up while I was in the middle of a battle, and for some reason or another, I was too dense to just turn it off and put it in my pocket. Nooooo, I had the bright idea of just putting it in my pocket, waiting for the right time to pull it out, finish, save, and cut it off. We ended up going to a grocery store, so I just went to the bathroom and did what I had to do. (I used the bathroom, too, but, hey, that's what it's there for.)

Eventually, Mom found out about it, but in a slow and roundabout way that led to her general acceptance of it. (She still disapproved of it but did nothing about it.)

My brother later got Silver version, and/or Yellow.

Towards the end of my use of that game, I think we had a Game Boy (classic), a Game Boy Color, and a Game Boy Advance. I'm not sure, and don't ask me about it.

By the time I got rid of Gold, I still did not have any level 100 Pokémon, despite a fairly high play time by the end. It's just part of my tendency to want to train other Pokémon more than my stronger Pokémon. A bit of a weakness, I guess.

Generation III

Ah, now we're talking.

I got my first Gen III game from some game store for $35 bucks or something. Pokémon Ruby. The first time, I got stopped at the battle with...what was it, Archie? I can't remember (note, check that later) and I didn't get the Master Ball from the Team Magma hideout. (Damn you, Game Freak! Damn you for sealing that cave!!!) So, maybe 6 months to a year later, I restarted the game, being very, VERY careful to get the Master Ball when I got to it. One difference: Instead of Ash, which is what freakin' EVERYBODY names their character, I decided to call my character Load. This has to do with my affection for Star Wars (which I'll add in here later) and less to do with my desire to look stupid among pretty much everybody I interact with in such mediums. (Note the incredibly heavy sarcasm on that last part of that sentence.)

Aaaanywho...

Maybe, just maybe, you're wondering what happened to my copy of Gold version? You're probably not going to believe me, but I traded it to some kid on the bus for Fire Red. Yeah. He said he wanted it for the story; I didn't care. 'Course, when he told me he wanted to trade back, I said no. I finished the story and it fell by the wayside. Later, so did Ruby.

Then I went to my high school's Anime Club and met Misha.

His real name's Mikhail, but I call him Misha, because that's what his trainer name was and he didn't think to tell me different. When I met him, I still didn't have any level 100's. We mix profiles every Thursday and/or Friday if we can get around to it, so now I have several level 100's. They are, in no particular order:

Funny thing about me: I always pick Fire-types for my starter, no matter how easy or difficult it might be. It's just my thing. I also don't like nicknaming Pokémon, because the Name Rater only lets you change the Pokémon's nickname: if you nicknamed your Bulbasaur something stupid, you can't change it to Ivysaur when it evolves and expect its name to change to Venusaur. The last time I nicknamed a Pokémon was when I named my Cyndaquil "Flame". When it evolved to Quilava, I couldn't find it in my party, then realised the name didn't change when it evolved-which I knew, but didn't expect.

Fourth Gen

So...In case you haven't noticed, I've not a DS. Nor will I - at least, I'm not likely to. However, I got a Wii - on launch day! So, maybe, someday in the future, I'll get Pokémon Battle Revolution. Or not. It depends. We'll - no, I'll - see.
