Radio
Lucky Channel (Japanese: ラッキーチャンネル Lucky Channel) is a radio program that broadcasts from the Goldenrod Radio Tower in Goldenrod City in Gold, Silver, and Crystal Versions.
The station, hosted by DJ Reed, broadcasts in Johto on channel 8.5 of the Pokégear. The channel broadcasts a random OT number which changes every Friday. During the week, the player can visit the Radio Tower and talk to a man on the first floor. If any of the player's Pokémon in the party or in the Pokémon storage system have an OT ID that partially matches the ID number for the week, they will receive a prize. If the last two digits of the ID match, the player receives a PP Up; if the last three match, an Exp. Share; if all five digits match, the player wins a Master Ball. The player may not win more than once per week, even if they have multiple Pokémon with winning IDs.
While the program is no longer broadcast in Generation IV's Johto, the drawing itself remains on the Radio Tower's ground floor, changing daily, rather than weekly, and with the same prizes as the drawings in Hoenn and Sinnoh.
Cheating the Lucky Channel on Gold & Silver
As of Gold & Silver, one is able to reset and change the in-game clock, which also resets the boolean which determined whether one has claimed his (or her) prize this week (but does not reset the lucky ID number), provided one is owning a Pokémon with matching IDs, which in turn results into being able to claim a prize multiple (infinite) times.
This is, however, not possible in Crystal, as the feature to reset ones clock has been removed with it.
