Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Pokemonboy!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The P, of course, is accessed easily by holding Shift and pressing the P key, while the é can be accessed using Alt + 130 or Alt + 0233 on a Windows computer, and Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a captial B (which is, again, accessed by holding Shift and pressing the B key). The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:Pokemonboy/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem, can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! TESHIGIGAS 18:51, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Edits

Dude, make CONFIRMED EFITS ONLY. NO rumors, opinions, are specualtions. Other than that, your editing seems to be fine. Happy Editing! --Theryguy512 20:20, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Link Templates

Please use the link templates when linking to Pokémon names and other stuff. For example, {{p|Zigzagoon}} instead of [[Zigzagoon]]. This makes you less likely to unintentionally link to a disambiguation page.

For a full explaination on how link templates work, look at the shortlinks. --Shiningpikablu252 17:29, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Listen, Pokemonboy he's right! I've gotten the same lecture like 4 times!--Kuki

Again, check out the shortlinks page. Use of link templates is official policy, and you'll get in trouble if you forget them again. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 07:52, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Signature

As per the Signature policy, your signature should at least link back to your userpage. Currently, your signature doesn't link to anywhere at all. Could you do me a favor and edit your signature to include a link? -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 19:40, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Is there a place on Bulbapedia where i can study about this or could you tell me how to do it please!!!!Sorry. Pokemonboy 07:17, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
If the signature policy page doesn't seem to help you, then that's what I'm for, yep. :D
The simplest solution here is for you to go into your Preferences, then down where it says "Signature", make sure the box that says "Raw Signatures" is unchecked. This will automatically link your signature back to your userpage.
If you want to get slightly more complicated (something I wouldn't suggest until you're more familiar with wiki-coding), you can check the "Raw Signatures" box and create a custom signature yourself. In that case though, you'll need to make it link to your userpage yourself; it won't do it automatically. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 08:18, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Perfect! and feel free to ask me if you've got more questions later on. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 21:10, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Its VS It's

Please be aware of the difference between it's and its. Use its to show possession, like "Pikachu is a playable character and the only Pokémon that is playable from the start of the game. It is in the fifth box of the second row. Its main stage is Saffron City." To avoid redundancy, like "Pikachu is a playable character and the only Pokémon that is playable from the start of the game. Pikachu is in the fifth box of the second row. Pikachu's main stage is Saffron City." It's is a contraction of the words It is, and is used for statement like this: "It's safe to say that Pikachu is the most famous and popular of all Pokémon." meaning "It is safe to say that... blah" That's all, thank you. Two things

Firstly, I removed your addition to the Future generations talk page, because Bulbapedia is not a place to post your random theories. There are forums for that, locatable in the sidebar. *points at sidebar*. Also, it is required that you put your username, or at least a fair chunk of that, in your signature. This will help people identify who is posting. Thanks. — THE TROM — 07:48, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
