Torchic (Japanese: アチャモ Achamo, German: Flemmli, French: Poussifeu, Korean: ???) is a Fire-type Pokémon. Along with Treecko and Mudkip, it is one of three starter Pokémon you can choose from at the beginning of Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Pokémon Emerald.

Torchic comes with the Ability Blaze, which increases the power of Fire-type attacks by 50% once the Pokémon has less than one-third of its maximum HP.

Torchic evolves into Combusken starting at Level 16, then into Blaziken starting at Level 36.

Name origin

Torchic's name may be a combination of "torch" and "chick". It appears to have been based on a chicken hatchling.
