Why is "yawn" linked to the move? That move hadn't been invented yet!

No. But this raises a good quesiton. "Yawn" is simply a Pokemon yawning to put the other to sleep. Does it count as a move only now that it's been recognized as an attack?

If Generation 4 releases a move just called "Dodge", does that mean Pokemon have been using that move in the anime for years? Or does it only count after the move has been released.

Ash had a Double Battle in one of the Orange Island Gyms. Does it NOT count as a Double Battle because Double Battles weren't released in the games then?

A Pokemon in the anime had used magic to change the weather in Gen I (like Dragonair was supposed to be able to), would that have counted as Sunny Day once Gen II is released?

Where does the line draw when a Pokemon simply performs an action, when that action is turned into an in-battle technique in later generations?

I'm going to guess that the 'yawn' in Azalea Town's history was just a regular yawn and not the attack, given that no mention was made of it putting anything to sleep. --BJG

"According to legends in the town, the Yawn of a Slowpoke causes rain" sounds like its talking about Rain Dance, and that it's how a Slowpoke performs a Rain Dance attack - MTC

Yeah, I'd have to concur with that rain dance assumption. Evkl 16:36, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)

>When I first read the legend, though - I thought about that Japanese folklore about how the croaking of frogs supposedly causes rain. While in the Pokemon world the wildlife CAN cause rain, the impression I got was that a Slowpoke just happened to be yawning at the time when a drought stopped and nobody stopped to think about if a cause had any effect - and which was which.

Young Oak?

There is a picture on the wall in Kurt's house, and when you walk up to it it says "A young Professor Oak?". This could be linked to the fourth movie, especially as you can catch Celebi in Ilex Forest in Crystal. Is this Trivia worthy? Taromon777 19:31, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

I never noticed that, can someone confirm this? If it's true, I think it's trivia worthy. ~~Takoto - サソデイ 20:21, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
It's been one year, but I noticed the same picture in my Pokemon Silver game where it clearly says: "...A young Professor Oak?"
Also, it seems there are 3 silhouettes in the picture. --SaitoFX 23:51, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Azalea Gym

shouldn't a Gym article be put into this, since Violet and Goldenrod's does? --Ruixiang95 00:48, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Fast Ball?

In the main article, it said that Kurt gives a Lure Ball. But in my version of Heartgold, I got a Fast Ball. Should somebody include this in the main article? Has anybody else experienced this odd phenonemon? Please answer my questions! Pawsrent 02:13, 22 April 2010 (UTC)Pawsrent

What color Apricorn did you give him? CuboneKing 02:16, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
Actually, it happened to me too. I received a Fast Ball instead of a Lure Ball after I defeated Proton in the Slowpoke Well. Is it kind of a random event? Because something similar happened to me in Violet City where I found a Red Shard instead of a Yellow one behind the smashable rock. Any suggestions? --SaitoFX 14:13, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Full Heal?

I can't find the Full Heal pointed out in the item box. Can someone confirm it? Or do I need a special item to find it? Thanks in advance. --SaitoFX 15:06, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

I don't know if there's anything by the well, but I had found one (a Full Heal) hidden in the pile of logs by the Charcoal Kiln. — KC 18:13, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for responding! I kind of sounded uninformed in my previous message, but I'd found the one (Full Heal) in the spot you mentioned aswell. I checked on the
Silver version (GBC) to realize that there's a Full Heal on the north wall surrounding Slowpoke Well but since there's NOT a north wall surrounding Slowpoke
Well
in the remake versions, it seems to me that the creators gave the item (Full Heal) a new location, this being the pile of logs by the Charcoal Kiln. I fixed it already.
Thank you! --SaitoFX 20:51, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Incorrect Headbutt Encounters (Generation II)

From what I've observed on Pokemon Crystal, the headbutt stats displayed here are incorrect. After extended headbutting, I found that Aipom appeared multiple times despite not being in the Generation II table for this area, whilst Exeggcute, Ledyba and Spinarak appeared not at all. If someone with the means to correct the information could do so, that would be great.

Betawolf33 18:00, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

Could time of day be a factor? —darklordtrom 20:58, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

Possibly, but it should be recorded if so. I've been looking around on the topic (I was actually hunting down an Exeggcute) and it seems that the area may have been mis-categorised somehow. Pokemon such as Aipom and Spearow (which i saw a lot) belong to the mountain group of headbutt captures, whereas the list provided here seem to be mostly from the forest group. That said, I definitely remember encountering an Ekans - which belongs to the forest group - so maybe the divide isn't so clear-cut? I think it's something that can only be addressed properly by looking at the game code. Betawolf33 06:19, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Just a quick correction : it turns out that Ekans is also potentially in the mountain group of headbutt Pokemon, which makes it seem more likely that this area recieved the wrong category (at least for Crystal). I've addressed the issue to the Headbutt talk page. Betawolf33 20:42, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Headbutt Encounters

While headbutting trees i think that the encounter chart is off, i ran into an Ekans while searching despite the chart saying that it is impossible (i'm playing crystal) and despite Aipom being 0.75x less common than Heracross i've ran into several Aipom and one Heracross so either i've had very strange luck or the percentages are off.
