Release information
This Tretta was awarded as a prize at each Challenge Cup event held at the 37th Next Generation World Hobby Fair during winter 2013. The World Hobby Fair took place at the Nagoya Dome, Nagoya on January 20th, 2013; at Makuhari Messe, Chiba between January 26th and 27th, 2013; at the Fukuoka Yahoo! Japan Dome, Fukuoka on February 3rd, 2013; and at the Kyocera Dome Osaka, Osaka on February 10th, 2013.
As with the Pokémon-centric cup events, the Challenge Cup tasked entrants to capture Pokémon with the highest combined PokéEne total as possible from a selection of Pokémon from all as of then released expansions. The Challenge Cup featured Battle Mode in a location made exclusively for the event: a forest with colorful trees and bunting. This theme would later serve the basis of all locations in the Gather! New Leaguers expansion. Genesect could also exclusively be encountered in Battle Mode, not featured on a Tretta until the Witness Genesect! expansion. Those who earned the top three PokéEne scores at each venue were awarded either this Tretta or a White Kyurem Tretta at random. The top 20 scorers were also awarded a 'WINNER' seal. All participants were also awarded either a Servine, Pignite, Dewott, Cobalion, Chandelure, Terrakion, or Hydreigon Tretta at random.
The Challenge Cup was held again as part of the Kids Games Festival in Spring, first held at Yomiuri Land, Tokyo and at Den Park, Anjō on April 7th, 2013. Several other venues across Japan were later added, taking place between April 27th and May 26th, 2013.
A combination of Pokémon Smash! Challenge Cup and regular Challenge Cup events were held as part of the Pokémon Exciting Carnival, held at several AEON Malls across Japan between May 11th and July 13th, 2013. The Pokémon Smash! Challenge Cup events included guest appearances by cast members and mascots of Pokémon Smash!. In addition to the regular top ranking and participation prizes, Pokémon Smash! Challenge Cup participants also earned a special Tretta Report seal featuring the Director Lucario and Oshawott mascots.
Two Challenge Cup events were held in conjunction with the 15th anniversary of Pokémon Centers in Japan. The previously announced Pokémon Smash! Challenge Cup was held at Pokémon Centers nationwide between May 25th and May 31st, 2013. The Strongest Challenge in History! Kyurem Challenge was held at Pokémon Centers nationwide between June 1st and June 14th, 2013. This event pitted participants against a team of three Pokémon that included either Black Kyurem or White Kyurem.
Another Pokémon Smash! Challenge Cup was held at the 2013 International Tokyo Toy Show. The Challenge Cup took place on June 15th and June 16th, the last two days of the event.
