Talk:Pokémon World Tournament
Download
Do you Have to download ALL the gym leaders and champions and if so how long will they be available?--OmaceHERO (talk) 11:33, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- As far as I saw on YouTube, they're available outright, though I may be mistaken, as I didn't reached that part of game. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 12:32, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- Not all of the Gym Leaders are available immediatly though. For example the Unova Gym Leaders are unlocked once you have defeated the Elite 4 if I remember correctly. Once you have defeated the Unova leaders then another set of leaders from another region is unlocked. I haven't defeated any of the other leaders, but I know that they aren't all available immediatly though. Lady Ariel (talk) 14:59, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
Beating the Champion unlocks the Unova Leaders Tournament. Beating the Unova Leaders Tournament unlocks all the other four regions Leaders Tournaments. Beating all 5 gets you the World Leaders Tournament. All of these tournaments are accessed from the right hand registry person.- unsigned comment from Schiffy (talk • contribs)
Teams
Should the competitors' teams go here or on their pages? Compare: Colress#Second battle, Battle Subway#Subway Boss. -- GoldenCelebi 15:33, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- On their pages, it would stretch the page too much and probably surpass the template limit. --Spriteit (talk) 05:32, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
Participants
I think we should be sorting this by league, not by participant. So rather than saying which character appears in which league, we should be saying which league has which character. Of course, I wouldn't mind if we were to do both, just the latter is more important. --SnorlaxMonster 14:14, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
I agree also it makes it less confusing as to which players are in which league.--Glalie Power (talk) 19:10, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
You have my full support on this since each league needs does not a minor description to what it represents. -Tyler53841 (talk) 19:12, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
- One confusing thing that could be dealt with is that many people would think that all 8 gym leaders are together during the same tournament when only 7 are selected for that tournament during the one time through a random selection (With both Hoenn and Unova Gym Leaders having more than eight). -Tyler53841 (talk) 19:19, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
Vito and the others.
OK, something that really irritates me is that there are no Dark-type gym leaders. This means that there is no gym leader in the type-expert for dark. There are some trainers for this but they are not listed on the page. Serebii has listed Vito (possibly) from the Winstrate family, but could someone confirm this? Nickvang (talk) 16:07, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
- Not quite. Vito is the Japanese name of this trainer in the Type Expert. However, Vito was the English name ONLY for the Winstrate, with his Japanese name being Ryohei (リョウヘイ) --Serebii (talk) 09:38, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
Lead Pokemon
Every Gym Leader and Champion (except Red and Blue) always lead off with a particular Pokemon in singles, doubles, rotation, and triples. I've looked up several PWT videos and noticed this pattern for them all; the lead Pokemon is the same and the rest of the Pokemon are randomly picked from the party of six (unless it's Triples where all are used anyway). It's usually the first Pokemon listed in the party templates on this site (Norman's Slaking, Jasmine's Steelix, Steven's Metagross, etc.). Would this deserve a mention on this page at all, the pages of the trainers in question, or perhaps a new page altogether about the general concept of a 'signature Pokemon'? Chicobo329 (talk) 19:08, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
- For the Driftveil singles at least, each participant has two specific Pokémon that they always use, usually listed first on Bulbapedia, as well as four others (two species with two possible movesets) only one of which they use (determined at random). I don't know where this should go (if anywhere) either, so I haven't put it up yet. -- GoldenCelebi 19:39, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
- Here I got this from Whitney's page, hope it might help you: 'Whitney will use three of the following Pokémon. Her leading Pokémon will always be Miltank.'. Nickvang (talk) 19:46, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
- I won't proceed with adding stuff like that until I get some staff approval on the matter or at least a wider consensus, due to the fact that there's so many Gym Leader/Champion pages that would have to be editted. Chicobo329 (talk) 17:15, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Ordinary Trainer participants
Do we know if there's more than one representation of each trainer type? Like, two Doctors, two female Rangers, etc? Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 15:09, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
Battle Points
So far there hasn't been a list or a table of amount of Battle Points (BP) awarded by the different types of tournaments. Is someone already working on it perhaps? --Laxi (talk) 12:49, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
- It's not that simple. The BP awards in the PWT are a lot less straightforward - you don't receive BP in any consistent pattern like in previous facilities. I think there is a formula, so I would assume it's being worked out. --The Great Butler (talk) 06:57, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

I have here the English translations of the Pokémon World Tournament images from the English Version. I'm sorry for the visual aides because I don't know how to put them here but I put up links. Source: Pokemon.com/BlackWhite2 PKMNFan21597 (talk) 07:56, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

Infobox
I created an infobox for each of the tournaments at User:Abcboy/sandbox/TournamentInfobox. Tell me your opinion! --Abcboy (talk) 16:09, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
Mix Master.
It has only has dupe rule? I was sure it also excluded legendaries. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 11:32, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
- Seems to have the same full ban list most other tournaments have. Just amended it. Odd that it doesn't state it in the receptionist description though. Maybe they didn't have enough room to say it? No matter. -- Trainer Hunter -- 12:06, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
Downloadable Tournaments
I believe all of them should be move to their proper and correct names. Video Game Championship Tournament doesn't seem like it has anything to do with 2012 Japan Representative Challenge, especially since there are many tournaments based off that. World Championships Tournament/Junior Division is not the same as 2012 Junior Division Challenge. --Abcboy (talk) 03:22, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
Download tournament bug
I don't know if this is already mentioned, but I encounter a bug where, after losing one Pokemon in the double battle and then having two knocked out at the same time, it would not let me continue, saying I had to pick a second Pokemon to send when I only had the one left. Plokool (talk) 00:50, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
- You choose the Pokémon to switch in, then the one to switch out, then the one to fill in the other fainted Pokémon. Not a glitch, just counter-intuitive. And it happens out of the PWT too. --Abcboy (talk) 02:51, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
BP based on fainted Pokémon
I'm assuming the PWT has similar mechanics to the Battle Subway, where unlike previous battling facilities, the player does not automatically lose if both Trainers' last Pokémon faint simultaneously; instead, the Trainer whose Pokémon fell first loses. I have experienced this myself (I was so happy when it did). So wouldn't that potentially allow a 0BP reward if the player won by fainting their Pokémon at the end of every battle? I know this would be very hard to test though. --SnorlaxMonster 11:41, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
- Well in one of my wins I won after the foe Pokémon used explosion, and I didn't get any damage because the foe Pokémon fainted and the battle was over. So I think it is impossible to get 0BP for a battle. Nickvang (talk) 15:16, 26 November 2012 (UTC)
- But your Pokemon never actually fainted? Because I think in the Battle Subway in BW I used a recoil move, and the opponent fainted then I did, and I was able to continue. --SnorlaxMonster 00:29, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
- I think the game assures the winner has at least one hp left, but with more than one recoil factor the winner will faint too. Like this: Blue's Exeggutor used Wood Hammer on me, I fainted, and it had the slightiest bit of hp left, after that it still fainted due to it's life orb, but Blue was still the winner. I came here to post about this, because I have run a battle with 0 Pokémon remaining. (There's even a special message for it, but I forgot to write it down). In my case, my last Pokémon was KOed by the opponent's last Pokémon, but took it down with it with a Rocky Helmet, and under gen 5 tiebreak rules (do we have an article about that?), it counted as a win for me. The BP I got for winning overall were calculated as giving me 0 for that battle (0+3+1 = 4; I considered losing two mons intentionally in the second battle to aim for 0+1+1=2 for the test, but it would have been too risky with my team composition). So what needs research for the article is, can you get less than 3 BP via tricks like Rocky Helmet recoil? callforjudgement (talk) 21:55, 16 March 2013 (UTC)
Third round messages + Red & Blue
The announcer's comment about the player before the third round changes as you get more total wins. Is there a list available for all of the messages? It goes up to 100 at least, with "This trainer has achieved over 100 victories! But the pursuit for true strength beyond mere numbers continues! I present you (player)!" as the message ([1])
Also, I think Red and Blue are the only opponents who don't have a "signature pokemon" that's always their first party member. Maybe this should be mentioned somewhere? Hheebo (talk) 14:18, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
