Hamster ?

Seeing as its got a tail, I think it's more of a Gerbil rather than a Hamster. --Unbirth (talk) 19:40, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

The face and body scream hamster far more than gerbil, but the tail is obviously gerbil. I think it would be best to say it draws inspiration from both rodents. GreatLiver (talk) 22:12, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
I see it as more of a Raichu with whiskers. Maybe we should say that's what it's based on. Me, Hurray! (talk) 22:54, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
Why would a Pokémon be based on another Pokémon? Technically yes there are the typical Pikachu-type clones, but that's already in the trivia. I agree that it is probably based on both hamster and gerbil, since hamsters obviously don't have that kind of tail. Another safe bet would be to just say that it's based on domesticated rodents. Rai Marshall (talk) 00:42, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

That seems too general though. I think the best think is to say hamsters and gerbils. Besides the tail, no one can really tell them apart anyway, so it makes sense that Gamefreak would combine elements of both.CoolDudeAl (talk) 05:46, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

Possible name origin

Dedenne is most likely a combination of denki, electricity, and antennae. Soincfunt (Talk) 00:14, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

Someone updated the name origin to antenne. While this may or may not be the origin for the English name (depending on how it gets pronounced in the anime, side games, etc), I do think the Japanese origin is simply antennae, since the kana are pronounced de-de-n-ne. If they were transliterating the French antenne, it ought to be simply de-de-n. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 21:13, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

Bit to add:

A further description was in the press release, which would be good to add:

"By emitting radio waves from its antenna-shaped whiskers, Dedenne can communicate with far-off allies. It can also plug its tail into outlets to drain electricity from them." ----samm :D 15:43, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

I'll add it to the special abilities section. --Pokemaster97 15:47, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

sugi art

has the decent quality sugi art been uploaded yet or is it just taking ages to appear? 0danmaster0 (talk) 16:27, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

The new one has been uploaded, it just takes Bulbapedia some time to catch up with the Archives. --Pokemaster97 16:31, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

English

Is Dedenne also the English name? Or has that not been revealed yet? griffindaly (talk) 19:57, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

Dedenne is its English name, it was the only one to keep its Japanese name. --Pokemaster97 20:00, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

Haven't you noticed that with all (don't grill me if i'm wrong, i haven't checked) the cute electric ones their names are the same in Japanese and english. Ziggyangelo88 (talk) 19:00, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Hope

Will someone fix that page error please, I really want to have it's official artwork not a screenshot of the latest corocoro scan, please someone fix it cause I cant....--Oshawott213 (talk) 16:17, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

It has been changed. Bulbapedia takes a while to catch up with the Archives. Eventually it'll look normal. Please, have patience. Ataro (talk) 16:20, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

what do you mean? it still hasnt been changed!Ziggyangelo88 (talk) 18:56, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

It means that, while the image has been changed from the low-quality scan to the high quality official artwork, it just takes some time before the system recognizes the change, hence why you still see the scan-image. Nothing can be done about this, and it'll probably take another week or so before it shows the right image. It's not the end of the world and people around here really make sure low-quality scans are replaced with official artwork as soon as possible, the system is just not fully adapted to this. Just be patient. ☼ BlazingFist ☼ 19:02, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
To check whether it's been changed or not, click on the image, search CTRL+F "description page", and click on the link it highlights to go to the image's page on the Archives. Once the Archives have been updated with the new art, there's nothing we can do but wait for the software to recognize it and synchronize Bulbapedia's version with the Archives' version.
