Mega Evolution Special I (Japanese: ポケットモンスターXY特別編 最強メガシンカ ～Act Ⅰ（アクトワン）～ Pocket Monsters XY Special Episode: The Strongest Mega Evolution ~Act I~) is the first special episode of the XY series. It first aired in Japan on April 3, 2014, and in the United States on May 31, 2014.

- This marks the first time that a male Garchomp appears in the anime.
- This is the first time in the anime that more than one Mega Evolved Pokémon are featured simultaneously.
- This is the first time Blast Burn has been used in the anime.
- As of this episode, all variations of Hyper Beam have been featured in the anime.
- This is the first episode in the anime that features a completely different narrator, as opposed to having physical characters narrating on some occasions.
- Excluding Kalos, Where Dreams and Adventures Begin! and Lumiose City Pursuit! which aired as a sneak preview for the XY series, this is the episode with the shortest time between it's Japanese and dubbed version's airing, with 58 days.
Errors
- Professor Sycamore's Garchomp has a cut on her fin, which she didn't the last time she was seen.
- Ash was mentioned by Mairin for having saved Ash's Pikachu and Garchomp.
