What are the chances to get a Shiny Pokemon via Time Capsule? Because I got a Shiny Shroomish by trade, and the location on its summary page said something like "This Pokemon arrived from Hoenn, after a long travel through time" Could someone fill me in? --YatzSliversword (talk) 17:25, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

You are confusing the Time Capsule with Pal Park. SatoMew 23:55, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

Dongle

Is Dongle method an appropriate link? It's Pal Park, not Time Capsule, which requires it. posted by Flicky1991 13:36, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Moves

Is it possible to trade Pokemon from G/S/C to R/B who have learned moves in G/S/C that are available in Generation I but are unable to learn them in R/B? For example, if a Starmie learned Confuse Ray in Gold, would I be able to trade it back to Red although it can't learn Confuse Ray in Red?

Yes, any move that exists in Generation I can be traded back from Generation II to Generation I, just as long as it's on a Generation I Pokémon and that Pokémon doesn't know any Generation II moves.
The Time Capsule only checks for Generation II Pokémon, and then Generation II moves. If your party has none of that, you can enter the Time Capsule, even if the only method for a Pokémon to learn a Generation I-origin move is in Generation II (i.e. elemental punches on Alakazam). --Shiningpikablu252 22:37, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
I recall someone back in the day with a Level 5 Bulbasaur with Petal Dance, which he bred on G/S/C and traded back to R/B/Y. --JDigital 07:14, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes, that would work as Petal Dance is a Generation I move, although Bulbasaur can only learn it in Generation II. — THE TROM — 07:17, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

What about apricorn balls

What happens if you trade a pokemon in one of the apricorn balls to the generation I games? Would they just change into regular pokeballs? - unsigned comment from Blazaking (talkcontribs)

Back then, PokéBalls didn't have any differences when a Pokémon appeared on the battle field. Different animations, as well as a picture of the PokéBall you captured your Pokémon with, wasn't available until Generation III. The only differences in Generation II they had was that they would be different colors when thrown at a Pokémon. --ケンジガール 07:04, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

This wouldn't be a problem as in Gen I Pokemon couldn't hold items anyways... Zendude 17:23, Nov 10 2009

When exactly available? (G,S)

I've met Bill inside the Pokemon Center of Ecruteak City, he is now back again in Goldenrod City but i still can't use the Time Capsule. It still says that it's under repair o.o OMG 02:59, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

You have to wait until past midnight :) --ZestyCactus 03:08, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Tradebacks and held items

Now, I know most GSC batteries are dead by now and King's Rocks are a pain to get in those games anyway, but what would happen if you, theoretically, traded a Slowpoke from Generation II back to Generation I while it was holding a King's Rock, then immediately traded back? Would it become a Slowking in GSC and thus be able to be traded as a glitch Pokémon back to Generation I? After all, the Time Capsule doesn't prevent a Gen I trade-evolution Pokémon like Graveler from learning Rollout after it evolves into Golem if it's traded at level 31, thus leading to a glitch move being usable if it is traded back immediately... TTEchidna 09:54, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

I just did it. Nothing happens. Slowpoke doesn't evolve. --Dr. James (tell me) 02:29, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
It even shouldn't work, as Pokémon didn't held items back in Gen I. The item probably got erased in the process, didn't it? Thus Slowpoke had no reason to evolve... --TakeruDavis[1] 15:21, 8 December 2012 (UTC)
They don't. How else you can get Light Ball in Generation II, than by trading the starter Pikachu from Yellow? Also, "This capability was first introduced in Generation II; however, when a Pokémon obtained in Generation I is traded to a Generation II game through the Time Capsule, it may be holding an item, such as a TM09 held by an Abra. Likewise, items held by Pokémon traded to Generation I will not be lost. " Marked +-+-+ (talk) 15:33, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

Held item list?

Is there a list of items which Pokémon traded from Generation I can be holding? The closest I found was on the Catch Rate page, but that only lists the four items available specifically by trading up from Yellow (and not things like TMs or the like). I think if there is such a list it should either be included on this page or linked from it. —AndyPKMN (talk) 18:06, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
