Roost
So, it mentions that by removing your Flying-type with Roost, you become Grounded. Okay, fair enough. But then we also must consider:
- If you are hit by Soak.
- If you use Conversion.
- If you use Conversion 2.
- If you use Reflect Type.
- If you use Camouflage.
- If you have Color Change as an ability and are hit by a non-Flying attack.
- If you have Protean as an ability and use a non-Flying attack.
And, because Levitators can also become ungrounded if:
- Hit by Simple Beam.
- Hit by Worry Seed.
- Hit by Gastro Acid.
- Hit by Skill Swap when used by a Pokémon without Levitate.
- Using Skill Swap.
- Making contact with a Pokémon with Mummy.
So do we add those too?
Oh, and let's not forget Air Balloon, and how you can lose it by
- Getting hit by an attack.
- Getting hit by Trick.
- Getting hit by Switcheroo.
- Using Trick.
- Using Switcheroo.
- Using Bestow.
- Using Fling.
- Obtaining the ability Klutz.
And yes, it is completely unreasonable to add all of that, so I'm removing Roost, as it makes no sense to mention it without mentioning ALL of this. --GoldenSandslash15 (talk) 12:10, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
- Regarding Roost: the other moves/Abilities you list are permanent and have that as their primary function (and are, therefore, largely self-evident IMO). For Roost that is not its primary fuction; it's not in the description or even necessarily intuitive. The only way you know about that effect is if you've experienced it or closely read a description of it online. It's also temporary, in contrast to the others being permanent. So I will be restoring Roost.
- In general, as far as the ways to lose ungrounded statuses, I think they're all pretty self-evident. The purpose of the grounded section is to specify things that inherently affect groundedness, things that negate (that is, override) characteristics that would normally make a Pokemon ungrounded, not things that indirectly affect it (i.e., affecting groundedness is not a primary function of the action). The grounded section is not (currently) meant for ways to take away a characteristic that makes a Pokemon ungrounded. Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:04, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
- Reading it anew after restoring it, I realize that Roost doesn't fit well within the lines I drew above for the Grounded section. But its peculiar status does mean it deserves mention somewhere. IMO the best place for that is still in the Grounded section. In any case, whatever you think, please do not simply remove all mention of Roost from the page. One way or another, I guarantee there is a better solution. Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:16, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
maybe mold breaker negating levitators should be mentioned somwhere? Danphlosion (talk) 01:27, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
