Talk:Porygon-Z (Pokémon)
The Meaning of Z
Couldn't the Z also mean the end? Like when Akria Toriyama suggested that the 'anime sequal' to Dragon Ball be called Dragon Ball Z? PorygonZ should, by all counts, be the end of the Porygon Evolutionary line, seeing as it is the third stage, and no Pokémon currently have more than 3 stages.--PikamasterADV 01:20, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well, yeah I think it could mean that. But DragonBall Z had a sequel after that didn't it? It was DragonBall GT. But I don't think there will be another Evolution after that unless the Scientists that created it want it to be stronger... Tesh 20:36, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- Z looks vaguely like 2. It's possible that Z was chosen because of that, and the fact that Porygon-Z looks like a corrupted version of Porygon2. -- Nebula
- Maybe there will be an alternate, non-glitch-like evolution of Porygon2, called, of course, Porygon3. --Shiny NoctowlTalk|Trivia quiz 15:09, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- I hope so. Call me crazy, but I kind feel bad that to fully evolve a Pokemon, I have to glitch it. When are they gonna release the official v3 patch?!
Dragon Ball GT was made by a toy company that owned the rights to the franchise and wanted to milk it some more. Yami 06:37, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yep. DBGT wasn't created by Toriyama, he finished with the series at Z. It was another director who decided to continue the series. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 06:41, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
I think they just called it Porygon-Z because Z lookes like an evolved 2. Taromon777 14:56, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Pokedex entry
I was thinking that maybe I should edit the pokedex entry so that it makes more sense in English. Something like this: "Although programs were added to make it surpass other pokemon, it began to behave strangely." sound good? kabutops master 10:22 pm march 25, 2007
- Well, what's there now is pretty much just the translation of the Japanese one. With English DP out in four weeks, it'll be changed by then, but if you do now, it doesn't really matter, so long as you're doing so to improve its grammar. Just make sure to spell it "Pokémon". --TTEchidna 03:04, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Glitch?
How the heck is it a glitch???? it doesn't SEEM like a glitch compaired 2 other glitch pokémon does it????UkiraGrace611 14:26, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- No, it's not a glitch, You probably just read the text wrong. --Theryguy512 20:45, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
oh ok.UkiraGrace611 14:26, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
"It is essentially a glitched Porygon2 with some minor differences. It could also be based loosely on MissingNo., the both of them being glitches." I saw THIS at the origin thing. does that mean anything???UkiraGrace611 14:58, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- What you said could mean that they Porygon-Z is literally a glitch like MissingNo., or it can mean that some Porygon-2 became glitched and evolved into Porygon-Z, and Porygon-Z came into beingPokeManiac102 15:20, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
i think whey should come out with a pre-evo for Porygon-Z(i mean not porygon2) that is also glitched sorta and a non-glitched evo for porygon2. of course called porygon3 for Porygon2's evo and perhaps porygon-X for Porygon-Z's pre evo.UkiraGrace611 14:12, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Togekiss?
"Porygon-Z is one of the two fully evolved three-stage Pokémon capable of legitimately being level 1 (Roserade being the other)"
If I'm not mistaken, Togepi can be found at Level 1. You can evolve it into Togetic then Togekiss without leveling up. Is this true, or does Togepi count as a baby Pokemon even though it is not a pre-evolution of a Gen I Pokemon? Gligar 14:52, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
No, because Togepi evolves by max happiness, which can't b achieved @ lvl 1--KukiTalk 14:53, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yes it can. If you hatch a Lv.1 Togepi and give it tons of vitamins and use a Rare Candy, it will have enough happiness to evolve into Togetic, and then you can use a Shiny Stone to get a Lv.2 Togekiss. Baby G 15:13, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Exactly.Level 2 togekiss, not level 1.Your Friendly Neighborhood Cookie Monster
Though Porygon is the only one that can go through both of its evolutions at level 1, since Budew evolves through happiness like Togepi. --Wikifixer 19:58, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, Budew only hatches from Roselia/Roserade eggs if you have the Rose Incense attached to the parent; if you don't have it attached, the egg hatches a Roselia and you can evolve it to a Roserade at Lv.1. Baby G 20:04, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Not sure how many people noticed this
Did anyone ever notice that Porygon2 looks like one of those Drinking birds with the mercury or liquid in them where they keep tilting up and down for water?
And now Porygon-Z has taken on a Hummingbird like posture. Also wasn't Porygon2 known for some strange anomolies like moving in ways not programed? Its been a long time since my Pokemon Stadium 2 has seen action but if i remember right Porygon2 moves a little hyperactive in the 3D 360 view in the pokédex. Yami 06:55, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, it was originally designed to explore space, but it failed and was made public.- unsigned comment from Rouge2 (talk • contribs)
Porygon Z fits bodystyle 9 better then 4.
I changed the body type value to nine because Porygon-Z fits the body type better then 4. Yami 19:24, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- Don't do that, because that's predetermined data from the game. Gligar I am not removing this lengthy addition to my signature until all moves have been updated to Platinum standard. 18:37, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
Roserade
I really don't think Roserade should be noted in the trivia. Because, while you can have a level one Roserade, that's only if you hatch a Roselia, which skips the baby, meaning it only evolves once. If you start out with Budew, it has to be at least level two.--Nostalgia 14:59, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Still doesn't change the fact that you can legitimately get a Roserade at level 1.--Outrage DD 22:11, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
A question
What is the note about the fact that Porygon-Z is the only Pokémon evolved from a Pokémon who evolves via trade doing at the top? Shouldn't it be in the trivia section? TheBlazikenMaster 14:08, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think so...--Kkllnn blastoise 14:09, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'm fully aware of the fact that articles have evolution details at the top of the page, but the fact about it being few that evolves from special evolutions belongs in trivia in my opinion. TheBlazikenMaster 15:28, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well, looks like this has been resolved. TheBlazikenMaster 15:29, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Strange trivia I noticed
Porygon-Z is the only fourth-gen Pokemon that evolves from an older Pokemon that was not obtainable in either of the Gamecube games. Perhaps a bit specific for trivia, which is why I threw it in here instead of the page, just something I noticed. --HeroicJay 19:19, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Stat Loss
I noticed that Porygon2 loses base stats in defense and special defense when it evolves. Should this be in the trivia? Also, where can i find a list of pokemon with base stat reduction upon evolution? I know Scizor is one, but i don't know any others. Mastergiygas11 19:00, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
If I'm not mistaken, Scizor is the only Pokemon whose base stat total is lower than that of it previous evolution. However, PorygonZ has a base stat total of 535, while Porygon has a base stat total of only 395. There are many Pokémon who have at least one base stat decrease when they evolve, but Scizor is the only one who has an overall reduction in its base stats. I don't think it's worth mentioning. Frenchhorn 20:47, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
Dex Color
Why is PorygonZ's Dex Color red if there isn't a trace of red on it? It is irrefutably pink. Just look at the picture for Pokepark Wii. Hot pink. And the Mystery Dungeon picture is light pink. Is it at least worth mentioning the confusion? Frenchhorn 20:37, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
- I think the color is debatable. Some people think it looks more pink than red, but obviously the creators classified it's dex color red probably meaning it's intended to be red. I don't really think it's worth mentioning because many Pokémon look diffrent in various media. Like Saturn's Toxicroak, who looks a diffrent color than the official art for it. --Pokemaster97 20:42, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
Problem with Rain Dance
Not sure how to fix it, but the image for Rain Dance's TM is a Fraxure sprite. Inanimateblob (talk) 04:35, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
- Looks fine to me. It's probably an issue with your cache. Try purging the cache (click on the UTC time at the top of any Bulbapedia page); I think that'll do it, but I don't know for sure (I'm not great with technical stuff like that). Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 05:54, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
Alien Dimensions
Porygon-Z's Pokédex entries state that it was made for work in alien dimensions. Take note that Porygon-Z is a Sinnoh region indigenous Pokémon, and of the mascot legendaries for the Sinnoh-based games, the Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum versions. Dialga and Palkia reside in this world, our native world, and Giratina resides in the Distortion World, an ALIEN WORLD.
Dialga and Palkia control time & space, respectively. These consist of the four dimensions this world is made up of. It would therefore follow that the Distortion World, which is not part of this world, may consist of different dimensions. And since, as we have already established, the Distortion World is an ALIEN WORLD, that would make its dimensions ALIEN DIMENSIONS!
I rest my case. -Mangaman13 (talk) 19:55, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

Stat Similarities
I noticed that Porygon-Z shares the same Defense and Special Defense stats as Porygon and the same HP and Attack stats as Porygon2 (essentially, only Speed and Special Attack increase along the evolutionary line). Is this valid trivia? ShermTank7272 (talk) 19:06, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
