Talk:List of glitch moves in Generation I
Redirects
Should redirects from stuff like TM05 (move) be created to this page? TTEchidna 19:59, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- I say Cooltrainer, Super Glitch, TM28, and TM50 should all be moved here and this would be more detailed with learnsets for the 50 TM moves, 5 HM moves, and the last two moes. Gligar 21:04, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
No, no, no, no, no!
Each glitch move deserves its own page! Not one page for ALL glitch moves! That would imply that Bulbapedia considers Glitch Pokémon and their moves to be beneath "official" Pokémon. And I know none of us want to be giving off that message, am I right? - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talk • contribs) 19:29, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- Opinion, and, based off what I know about you, biased. Gligar 00:11, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- ME, biased? No, no, no, it's everyone ELSE who's biased. Biased against Glitch Pokémon! Just because a move is only learnable by Glitch Pokémon doesn't make it any less notable than a move learnable by "regular" Pokémon! I don't know where they're getting this whole "glitch moves aren't notable" crap from.... - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talk • contribs) 01:19, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Disambig links
Some Glitch Pokémon, ex. PkMn, link to a disambig to Pokémon and PkMn instead of the Glitch Pokémon itself. How can we fix this? PH1R3STRIKE 21:11, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- Link it directly. Try [[PkMn (Glitch Pokémon)|PkMn]].--KK llnn 21:13, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- You mean directly in the move infobox? Because that's where I found it. PH1R3STRIKE 21:14, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- Changing the link target if it links to the wrong article, of course. It can be done in many ways, depending on what's the name of the Glitch Pokémon's page: if it has " (Glitch Pokémon)" at the end, it can be linked to with the link template {{gp|(Pokémon's name)}}. Otherwise, if there is no appropriate link template, just use the normal wiki link with alternate text, for example [[pPkMnp|blah my favorite glitch pokémon yo]]. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 21:18, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- This doesn't, however, work on these template-powered move entry tables. Someone should make a new version of the table templates to make it work fully. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 21:20, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- Maybe we should switch the redirect.--KK llnn 21:22, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- While we don't have a new template, maybe we should put something like a link below the infobox indicating that the link to the disambig is incorrect, acting like a replacement for the top one PH1R3STRIKE 21:33, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

More of the glitch moves learned by normal Pokémon
Surely there has to be more of the trade-evos that can do this... TTEchidna 05:42, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- Gengar's Destiny Bond has no equivalent here. Could someone with access to Red, Blue, and Yellow Versions check that move (trade Lv48 Haunter to Gold, Silver or Crystal, and then back again). The same applies for Machamp's Scary Face, except the level is 43. SnorlaxMonster 12:06, 17 September 2009 (UCT)
- Nevermind. They become super glitch. I'll edit it soon if nobody beats me to it.--SnorlaxMonster 06:25, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- What about the item trade-evos? Or are they prevented from evolving via trade if traded from RBY? TTEchidna 07:55, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, trade evolutions wouldn't be programmed into RBY and a Pokémon traded from RBY cannot hold an item capable of evolving it.--SnorlaxMonster 10:05, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

For the sake of consistency
We need to decide whether we do or don't use sprites based on their Pokédex number for glitch Pokémon. Glitchy Charizard, Charizard 'M and Glitchy Nidorino should keep their mini sprites, but how about hybrids? Or the Pokémon with Pokédex numbers of 000 or past 151? It is hard to read when all you see is {{MS}}
, but is that more correct to use? --SnorlaxMonster 09:51, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- Um, no? It's fine the way it is not. Ketsuban 02:42, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- I've seen it both ways on this article. And it's not using
{{MS}}
on Super Glitch, but it is for MOST of this article and -- (move). Having it both ways at once is not fine. --SnorlaxMonster 05:56, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- I've seen it both ways on this article. And it's not using
No effect?
When it says "None" in the effect column does it mean that the move does absolutely nothing, or nothing except for damage. I know one of the moves specifically states that it does absolutely nothing, but what about all the others? --Jared 00:30, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
- It means it has no extra effect. So if there is also a power it does damage but has no added effect. If there is no power and no effect it does nothing. --SnorlaxMonster 05:44, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
Hmmmm...
How about this issue: what do the moves at TM52-TM55 do in GSC? Surely data still exists there... TTEchidna 22:28, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Regarding "Super Glitch" moves
I'm not entirely sure why, but every time that I manually hack the game's RAM to go through the Super Glitch moves, I never encounter the "Super Glitch" or "TMTrainer" effect. Most of the time in Blue I get the following:
- Text Overflow
- Game Freeze
- Ordinary Attack
- Ordinary Attack + Freeze afterwards
The effects of index 0xA6-0xB5, "Super Glitch" moves start at index 0xAC, 3:06 in the video
and in Green I get this as well -
- Tile Explosion
- The above, with the exception of freezing and different animations, except allows access to the field menu.
I repeated the moves several times and they produced similar effects.
I think the "Super Glitch" moves need to be categorized as individual moves instead of lumped together as "well idunno SUPER GLITCH!!! lol" and do more research on these moves, and get rid of the Super Glitch page altogether.
Since I'm patching the move onto a Pokémon, I'm starting to feel that the effect is influenced by the glitches the Glitchmons that are using it have done to the game's RAM. (Pycthedragon 22:08, 2 March 2011 (UTC))
TM38
I´ve got a question to the move TM38: If it has 0% Accuracy but crashes the game when not defeating the enemy, is it crashing the game everytime you use it? And what about the other ones with an accuracy of 0% ? How do you know about the Accuracy anyway? I thought nearly all of the Glitch Moves would be (as their name says, hehe) glitched, also in their description? Shadow Kyurem 12:43, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
An X Accuracy could be used, since in Gen 1 & 2 X Accuracys make moves bypass the accuracy check. Rmac524 (talk) 00:29, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
Question
why has 8B 4 8 the Icon of Ho-Oh? I checked the Page but there stand nothing about it... --Hao (talk) 10:45, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
Strange effect
My ????? in pokemon crystal learned a glitch move:
w?Ra_Z
I haven't looked for the move here but the move had a very strange effect: First my ????? tackled the opposite pokemon, then the game said that my ????? braced itself, and then a screen popped out that said:
Pokemon Crystal(written with unown)
This game was designed only for use on gameboy color.
The move had PP58/15. After the screen showed up the game freezes(I think) and no music plays. ResearcherJoX (talk) 13:16, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
Gen I version differences
Are glitch moves different between Red+Blue vs Yellow (English versions)? … I was going to try patching some glitch moves to my Pokémon in Yellow version and try them out. I put TM 28 (hex E4) on my Paras, had 30 base PP, it worked as noted. However, I patched hex DB and DF and their Base PP's were different (36 and 2 instead of 50 and 4, respectively) I am playing on cartridge with Gameshark, and I don't want to ruin the cart. move Description Similarities
I'm trying to edit moves with similar discriptions to read the same way, so some discrepancies arise. Should stats like evasion be increasing/decreasing or raising/lowering? When there is a 30% chance "to poison", or "of poisoning"? TeiMoe–>Tell me how I'm doing 04:50, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
