001Bulbasaur RG.png Due to special coding in place in the article, the artwork featured on this article will change every year on November 21 and October 15 in celebration of the releases of Gold and Silver in Japan, and Gold and Silver in the United States. This will only affect the artwork shown in the infobox. This changes every year, so when the time comes, here to return to the page and change the display.

Sprites

this is what I mean: 2ujk2z8.jpg

normal and shiny sprite are always the same, except for colors, but the crystal normal sprite has two feather, the shiny only one, and no, isn't a different position. the same thing happens for Xatu ---Samu- 21:40, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

I see what you mean there, that little bump of "feathers" on the normal sprite. ~~Takoto - サソデイ 21:45, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
<.< Why is Crystal's normal sprite both the first AND second pose at the same time? The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 21:46, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
More importantly, can anyone fix it. The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 01:39, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Takoto: Bad cropping. I've asked someone who's been uploading Crystal sprites to see if we can get a better version of this. —darklordtrom 07:09, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

The Platinum sprite is incorrect

On the page for Natu and Xatu, you guys show that their sprites for Platinum are exactly the same as Diamond/Pearl. That's false, because in Platinum Natu and Xatu received new colors. How come it hasn't been fixed yet? --Chaos Rush 00:53:25 (UTC)

We haven't got the image. If we did, we'd display. Until someone uploads it, we are displaying the temporary one. —darklordtrom 07:09, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
I think that shouldn't be displayed any when isn't a correct version of it. It confuses who did not saw Natu in-game, making him/her think that it is the actual Platinum sprite. -- RikkiKitsune 07:18, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
It defaults to that because so many sprites are the same. I haven't got past Oreburgh Gym yet, so I can't make a list of what sprites are different. If you'd like to give a hand that'd be fantastic. —darklordtrom 07:30, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
Oh, understood. I'm not so advanced in my game also, but I'll try to help as I can. ^^ -- RikkiKitsune 07:40, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
The Pokemon that changed colors in Platinum (but still have the same pose) are: Natu, Xatu, Mareep, Forretress, and Ursaring.

I can't find Forretress's Platinum sprite at the moment, but I assure you, in Platinum he has a purple hue. Also almost every Pokemon got a new backsprite in Platinum. I actually compared them, though I haven't compiled a list yet. Chaos Rush 20:07, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

EDIT: So far I've uploaded Mareep, Natu, Xatu, and Forretress. I'll do Ursaring later. Chaos Rush 22:56, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

I've just been informed by Ht14 that Scizor and Octillery changed also. Zurqoxn 15:07, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
Those sprites were changed a long time ago, since they were in the Sinnoh Dex. All Pokemon in the Sinnoh Dex got new sprites, plus Oddish, Ninetales, Hitmonlee, and Registeel. I was talking about the Pokemon that kept their old D/P sprites, but got new color palettes. These Pokemon are Natu, Xatu, Mareep, Forretress, and Ursaring.Chaos Rush 22:50, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

name

"reference to Atu, an Aztec god"
According to Aztec_mythology#Gods @ en.wp there is no Aztec god with the name "Atu". So either wp is incomplete or the name origin at bulba is bullshit. --Bernd 13:03, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

More likely the latter. I've removed it. It can be added back if someone can provide evidence that there actually is an Aztec god called Atu. If you see any more like that, feel free to remove it, leaving a note like "<wikipedia page url> There isn't an aztec god called Atu" as the edit summary. Werdnae (talk) 20:52, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

How is it Obtained in X and Y, I got a Natu in wonder trade but the article says there none

Ok, I'm confused on how there is none but it can be traded? there is no direct trade between B2W2 or the other games if I am correct. it none on the article and that it can be trades, and we also have the pokédex texts for it and Xatu who is in the same boat. All the other Pokémon we can't obtain legitimately in X and Y still have blank pokedexes on their articles. Can someone clear this up, because I have received a lv 1 baby natu in a Quick Ball through wonder trade so there is clearly some in at least one of the games. Yamitora1 (talk) 07:57, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

Never mind, I figured it out. Xatu is in the friend safari. Seriously, we need to get this friend safari nonsense straightened out. Half the pokemon that appear have it down as that being where they are found, others like the starters are not allowed to have it shown. Yamitora1 (talk) 10:08, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

Name origin

In the article it says "As revealed in a Penny Arcade Staff Podcast by Jeff Kalles, who assisted in the naming of many Generation II Pokémon, the word Natu is short for nature." I think this shoul be rewritten to "Natu is a shortening for nature" and referencing to that podcast rather than just refering to an unnamed podcast. As I don't know which podcast this is I do not change this but I call no someone who knows this to change it and provide a source or remove it entirelly. --Raltseye prata med mej 16:04, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
