Chuck
Chuck (Japanese: シジマ Shijima) is the Cianwood City Gym Leader. His specialty is Fighting-type Pokémon. Chuck gives out the Storm Badge to trainers who best him.
His English name means "manly and strong", but was probably chosen because it also means "to hurl an object".
In the Anime
Just after Ash Ketchum and co. said good-bye to Janina who come to Cinnabar Island to pick up medicine for Jasmine, they meet a man rough housing with a Machop. Following him, Ash discovers that the fighting man was the Chuck, the Gym Leader and the Master of the students. After eating, Chuck and Ash had their battle for a "Storm Badge". Ash uses Pikachu who got defeated by Chuck's Poliwrath, so Ash had Bayleaf defeat Poliwrath and Machoke.

In the Games
Chuck's title is simply "His roaring fists do the talking.".
Chuck intimidates his opponent before battle by telling how his Pokémon "will crush stones and shatter bones," then lifts and tosses a boulder.
He enjoys a good battle, but after losing Chuck vows to train 24 hours a day. Also, Chuck is known to spar with his fighting Pokémon.
In addition to the Storm Badge, Chuck gives out TM01, Dynamicpunch, in Pokémon Gold and Silver, and Pokémon Crystal.
