Gender differences
How did we find out about the black spot? I have three male torchics in diamond and I didn't see anything...Sludge 13:53, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- Read that again...you have three MALE Torchic. The gender difference is the black spot on the back for males and no spot on the back for females. Look around their butts. -Sketch 13:56, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- Notice the small spot on it's rear, that's how. It only appears in the backsprite.--FF(edits-talk) 13:58, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- A very minute difference like that is very easy to miss. Something that small can slip by even experts, especially if the difference is backsprite-only (partly why serebii.net never caught it). --Shiningpikablu252 15:48, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

- Automated template function. We'll patch everything up soon enough, don't you worry. —darklordtrom 11:48, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Typo
There is a little typo in Special Abilities. It says 'breath' instead of 'breathe'. -- Hohoo 20:19, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
What??!
Help! What's happened to the infobox? Giant Torchic!! Taromon 14:15, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
Don't you find it odd
I know that it's evolved forms are more physical based, but if Torchic learns Flamethrower by level up. Why can't it's evolved forms? --Jono R 18:55, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Fix help!
If anybody noticed the Sprites box's got two rows of each sprite for Gen IV.
Can somebody fix it since I don't know how to?
~ Thanks in advance. SaitoFX 17:19, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
- The two rows are the different genders, as Torchic does have gender differences. (hint: look really closely at the backsprite.) Also, you aren't allowed to have sprites in your sig. Werdnae (talk) 18:50, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I didn't know that. Thanks for pointing both things out -about the sprites & about the signature.
- As you probably expected, I'm still a newbie. SaitoFX 22:07, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
- You're welcome. The main "issue" with Torchic is that its gender difference is so minor that it isn't easily noticable, so rather than seeing it and going "Oh, there are two different sprites" people go "Why are there two sets of sprites?" As for the second bit, we were all new at one point. Werdnae (talk) 00:29, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I didn't know that. Thanks for pointing both things out -about the sprites & about the signature.
Trivia
On the part about gender differences, it says that Torchic is the only base form of a starter with gender differences. Underneath it, it says that "Tepig also shares this distinction" or something like it. Tepig doesn't have gender differences as far as I know... KyuremsIceBlade 18:02, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
Only crural starter
Can you please add "Torchic is the only starter pokemon with a crural body" on the trivia section? --HoennLove200 (talk) 15:45, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
Trivia
Here's a good trivia fact.
Torchic is the first starter Pokémon to be based on a bird.
This will cover the other starters based on birds, like Piplup and Rowlet. Christian (talk) 02:23, 12 May 2016 (UTC)
- It's very specific, more to do with starter Pokemon than Torchic in particular, and can be seen well enough on the starter Pokemon page... It's not really necessary. Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:32, 12 May 2016 (UTC)
The other trivia discussion
Here's one.
- Torchic is the first fire-type starter pokemon who's final form is humanoid in appearance. Future fire-type starter pokemon follow this trend.Robbie (talk) 01:36, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
Torchic's Special Attack Trivia
Hi there! I noticed that Torchic currently has the highest Special Attack among base form starters, but it isn't listed in the trivia section. However Mudkip's is, given it has the highest Attack stat. Shouldn't Torchic's Special Attack stat be featured in its Trivia section like Mudkip's?
