Generation II
Are we 100% certain about the details of Berry Juice in Generation II? For one, Shuckle's page lists Berry as Shuckle's potential hold item in GSC, not Berry Juice. Also... I've been in over 50 battles with Shuckie, the gift Shuckle, holding a Berry as the only Shuckle in my party and it has yet to turn to juice. There's mixed information all over the net about whether it's battles, steps, real time, levels, etc. - Xelrog T. Apocalypse (talk) 23:55, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
- This edit has evidence that shows how the conversion thing does happen in Crystal (it needs to be a standard Berry, however). This page is correct on all details (as far as I can see, evidence being here for Crystal). Pokémon pages may me wrong and would need to be updated. (Feel free to do so.) Shuckle cannot hold a Berry Juice, but a Berry (Gold; Crystal); I've corrected it here. For the conversion thing in particular, it's possible that something's different in GS (i.e., that it may only happen after another point in the story, or even not at all). - Why would it only work after Goldenrod? Anyway, my file is complete (16 badges), and I finally got my Berry Juice in Gold. I started actually winning the battles, USING Shuckle, and it converted within 20 battles, a reasonable number given the 1/16 chances. Thus, my experience would suggest that Shuckle needs to be involved in the battle and you need to not flee the battle for the 1/16 chance to trigger. That is, running away will not trigger it, nor will winning the battle if Shuckle did not participate. I spent about 60-70 battles running away immediately (half with Shuckle out, half with another lead pokemon) and another 60-70 OHKOing wild pokemon with a Charizard (with Shuckle lower in the party). Of course, there's no way to prove with 100% certainty that I wasn't just stupidly unlucky... but 120+ battles is a significant sample, so it would be great if a second person could corroborate my test. - Xelrog T. - If you want a story reason for why it only works after Goldenrod, I don't know; otherwise, the answer is: because that's how it's programmed. (Also, FYI, there is no difference in this routine between GS and C.)
- The change comes after Pay Day, after evolution, and before Pokerus, so it's certainly not going to work if you just flee. 60 isn't a bad sample but 100 is a bit better and 200 is definitely worth "worry". Tiddlywinks (talk) 17:34, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
