Pokémon Watcher
A Pokémon watcher (Japanese: ポケモンウォッチャー Pokémon watcher) is a person who studies Pokémon, observing them under the ownership of a Pokémon Trainer and in their natural habitat.
Role
Pokémon watchers dedicate themselves to studying Pokémon, their habits, behaviors, and interactions. They travel the world looking for all kinds of Pokémon so they can observe and study their characteristics and abilities. They also search for new, undiscovered Pokémon. As a result, watchers have a broad knowledge about Pokémon.
Pokémon watching includes carrying out field research, monitoring a particular species of Pokémon for long periods, and gathering background information. As well as observing and studying Pokémon, watchers may spend time writing research articles and reports to be reviewed by Pokémon Professors.
Watchers can also raise Pokémon to help them with their work, usually training Pokémon with skills such as good eyesight or hearing, which may come in handy when trying to locate certain Pokémon. In addition, they are able to evaluate a Pokémon's diet and tell if they are healthy or not through the examination of their fur and the effectiveness of their moves. They usually carry notebooks where they can record their observations and other equipment such as binoculars.
Pokémon watchers, like some Pokémon researchers, are known to be eccentric due to their overwhelming fascination with Pokémon. The famous Pokémon watcher Dr. Quackenpoker, for instance, devoted his entire life to studying Magikarp.
