Trivia
- This card is mostly identical to the other Mr. Mime ex released in the set. The only difference between the two is the damage amounts prevented by their Poké-Bodies.
- Despite the Poké-Body's name, every amount of damage prevented by Magic Odds is actually even. Presumably, the name is referring to the fact that all the amounts are odd numbers when divided by 10.
Origin
Magic Odds' Japanese name is a reference to the Battle of Imphal, considered to be one of Japan's largest defeats during World War II. The "odd" numbers of damage in the Poké-Body acknowledge that from a Japanese point of view. The same reference is also applied in the counterpart Mr. Mime in the set, but of a Japanese victory instead. It is no surprise that Nintendo altered the names during translation, as it references war and takes an arguably biased viewpoint of pivotal battles in the context of the Poké-Body effect.
