Greeting

In HGSS, the Name Rater says "Hello, there!" instead of "Hello, Hello!", should this be added to the trivia? Alexjuuhh 10:51, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

It should --Mikkim 09:16, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Trading

If you trade a pokemon back to its original file can its name be changed? Rhadlow27 16:45, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

Yes you can, as long as the OT, trainerid and secret id are the same, the name rater will allow it. --Mikkim 09:16, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Secret ID

Does the Secret ID really need to match to allow him to change your Pokémon's name? The article already states that event Pokémon only need the Trainer ID to match to change their name, and a user tried setting the Trainer ID only by cheating device and could still change its name. --SnorlaxMonster 08:37, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

"Inputted"

I'm not sure if this is just dialectal variance, but the past participle of input in my experience is just "input", not "inputted"--so, "after a name has been input" rather than "after a name has been inputted". Looking it up, apparently both are acceptable, but the former sounds more correct to me personally. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? Xolroc (talk) 18:55, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Generation I

Apparently, a traded Pokémon in Generation I cannot be renamed, even if the player has the same OT and Trainer ID number. I traded a Pokémon back to myself from Generation II (a Seadra), and even though the Gen I game I traded it to was the same one it came from, I couldn't give it a new name. --LavaringX (talk) 03:57, 1 June 2018 (UTC)

Eggs

I showed him an Egg in my Platinum game and this produced a quote that I couldn't find on the article. I've added the quote but can other users go around and check what he says in other games? Gengarzilla! 16:25, 27 September 2019 (UTC)

Sw/Sh trading

In Sword/Shield, the Name Rater has let me rename Pokemon I've gotten in trades, even if they already have another nickname. However, the Name Rater only lets you rename said Pokemon once per 'mon. DeltaEevee777 (talk) 03:58, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

I cannot replicate this. Jack just says how it's a "truly impeccable nickname". Nescientist (talk) 13:43, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
Maybe there is misunderstanding because (if I remember correctly) traded pokemon from game with another languge set will still be named, for example, [japanese_analog_for_Yamper] instead of [Yamper]. So it looks like a nickname although it can be changed once (because it is NOT actually a nickname given by OT). Itan (talk) 09:23, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
Well, I believe you cannot rename any outsider Pokémon, regardless if it is already nicknamed. I just checked - I cannot rename "トリトドン" either. Nescientist (talk) 12:12, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
Okay, now I've searhed for this and found sources that say "You can rename ousider pokemon one time if it has no nickname BUT (being opposite of what I said earlier) their species name is treated as nickname if it is in other language". It sure sounds like I'm trying to prove a thing I'm not sure in because it's true. I just heard that you can change name of outsider pokemon once in SwSh if it's not already changed. I don't own a SwSh so if anyone can test situations:
1) Trying to change name of pokemon with different OT but no nickname given upon capture (Yamper named Yamper).
2) Trying to change name of pokemon with different OT and native game language but no nickname given upon capture (Yamper named ワンパチ or Voltoutou). If fails, evolve (it should change to English variant - Boltund) and try to change it again. Itan (talk) 13:13, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
