Palina (Japanese: ガラナ Garana) is a warden tasked with watching over a special Arcanine found in the Cobalt Coastlands. She is a member of the Pearl Clan.
In the core series
The Player first meets Palina at the top of Veilstone Cape at the grave for the previous Noble, Arcanine, who died at sea while trying to save its pup Growlithe. She is tasked with raising the son of the previous Lord to be the next Noble for the Pearl Clan but has decided instead to let Growlithe live its life in peace after its traumatic experience, which has caused many within her clan to have doubts about her shirking her duties as Warden. After one of the Growlithe in her care is kidnapped by the Miss Fortune sisters, she travels to Firepit Island with the Player and Iscan where she witnesses the son of Arcanine evolve when attempting to come to the defense of the kidnapped Growlithe. Quickly after evolving, Arcanine is struck by lightning and enters a Frenzied state. Once the Player has quelled Arcanine's Frenzy, Palina thanks the Player and vows to watch over the new Lord Arcanine as its Warden.
She has known Diamond Warden Iscan since they were children after Iscan saved her with Basculegion and the two have formed a romantic relationship in secret.
Pokémon
Like all members of the Pearl Clan, Palina does not keep her Pokémon partner in a Poké Ball.
