A space-time distortion (Japanese: 時空 Space-Time Distortion) is a feature introduced in Generation VIII that allows the player to catch rare Pokémon that are otherwise unobtainable. Space-time distortions only appear in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

In the games

Frequency of appearance

Once the player has beaten the first Noble Pokémon, Kleavor, space-time distortions will start to appear and spawn after waiting in an area for a certain amount of time without entering the menu, battling, or resting at a base camp. These distortions are more likely to spawn when the player reaches the end of the game's main story. Space-time distortions will not spawn if the weather is intense sun, snowstorm, or thunderstorm. The percentages of distortions spawning based on time are shown below:

Distortion chance (normally) Distortion chance (end game)
5 minutes 10% 30%
10 minutes 30% 40%
15 minutes 50% 70%
25 minutes 75% 100%
40 minutes 100% 100%
