Quaxly (Japanese: クワッス Kuwassu) is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IX.
Along with Sprigatito and Fuecoco, Quaxly is one of three starter Pokémon of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Along with Sprigatito and Fuecoco, it was the first Generation IX Pokémon to be revealed to the public on February 27, 2022, through a Pokémon Presents video presentation.
Biology
According to the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet website, Quaxly is the earnest and tidy Duckling Pokémon.
Trivia
Origin
Quaxly appears to be based on a young duck or swan. Its hair patch resembles a beret or a sailor cap. Its teal feet and hair may be inspired by the blue-footed booby (a species of water bird known for their bright blue feet), or a pun on the teal (a type of duck); the latter is supported by the fact that Quaxly's category in Japanese, こがもポケモン Kogamo Pokémon, can both translate to "Duckling Pokémon" or "Teal Pokémon".
Name origin
Quaxly may be derived from quack.
