This page is a draft intending to satisfy the redlink on Celadon University, as I own and have scanned the book myself.

Encyclopedia Pokemonica is a pocket book given out to contestants in the "Tamamushi University Hyper Test" campaign by Shogakukan in July 1998.

History

In 1998, an event was held in Corocoro Magazine among other Shogakukan-owned magazines, dubbed the "Tamamushi University Hyper Test". This event would have readers submit answers to questions to enter competition for various promotional items. Around 1,000 of these bundles would be distributed to readers who scored highly on their tests, while 20 "professors" would receive a special Dragon Rage Magikarp. Other items, including Encyclopedia Pokemonica, were given out alongside an Unnumbered Promotional Magikarp card, two personalised pencils, a student ID card. The book, being paperback, also came with a special blue plastic protector.

Contents

Encyclopedia Pokemonica is a very small book, not more than 15cm by 10cm in dimensions, as it is designed to fit in the reader's pocket. It intends to act as a real Japanese student handbook with legitimate use to the reader.

  • Pages 1 through 10 contain various pieces of lore about Celadon University and Poké Balls, the former of which is a location created specifically for the Hyper Test event.
  • Pages 11 through 16...
  • Pages 17 through 24 serve as a student planner, effectively being a calendar for the rest of 1998.
  • Pages 25 through 30 serve as a notebook, with pages 31 through 34 being similar but with a different design. Pokémon facts are listed at the bottom of each page.
  • Pages 35 through 38...
  • Page 39...
  • Page 40 acts as an area to write in one's personal details.
