Main article: Mewtwo (M01)

Mewtwo first appeared in it's armored form in the episode The Battle Of The Badge, where he battles against Gary's Arcanine and Nidoking. He was easily able to defeat them both using his psychic abilities. At the end of the episode, Giovanni released Mewtwo from his cables and informed Mewtwo that he had a special assignment.

Armored Mewtwo makes it's movie debut in Pokémon: The First Movie - Mewtwo Strikes Back, where it's armor is used as a sort of prison in order for Team Rocket to control it. Mewtwo eventually breaks free and seeks revenge. This same plot would be repeated in Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution.

In the manga

In the Mewtwo Strikes Back! Manga, Team Rocket takes control of Mewtwo using the armor. In this manga series, Mewtwo uses his armor to attempt to try and help Giovanni take over the world, until its "father" (Dr. Fuji) frees it.

Armored Mewtwo in Adventures.

In the Pokémon Adventures series, Giovanni traps Mewtwo in armor (titled the "M2 Bind"), which forces Mewtwo to suppress his powers.

Armored Mewtwo appears again in Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution, where Giovanni is able to take control of Mewtwo using its armor. Giovanni was able to show off Mewtwo's capabilities for a little while before being thwarted. Mewtwo is eventually freed when it gets a blow to the chest from a Rhydon.

In the Mewtwo Returns, Giovanni is able to capture and enslave Mewtwo in a suit of armor.

  • According to the Pokémon Adventures Manga series, Mewtwo's armor is known as the "M2 Bind".
  • In most adaptions of this form of Mewtwo, the armor is meant to make it easier for Giovanni to control Mewtwo.
