Pewter City,the stone-gray hometown of the renowned gym leader Brock, who focuses on using rock type pokemon.In Pewter City there is a muesem that holds the rare fossil of Aerodactyl. You can take it to the Science lab on Cinnabar Island to resssurect it.Also in Pewter City there aren't any really serious trainers because they are all Bug Catchers.
Well as you leave Pewter City you end up at Mt.Moon.
