Hey, you might want to check out User:Maverick Nate/Designers. Anyway, can you provide sources for these designers? --SnorlaxMonster 11:23, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Legendary beasts

If it's not too much trouble, would you be able to provide a source for Muneo Saitō designing the legendary beasts? I ask because I'd like to add it to their article ^^' I find that really interesting especially since the legendary beasts have a fairly prominent role in the Golden Boys manga which she created. :P Thank you! --ZestyCactus 20:26, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Wow, Great Work!

It's crazy that out of 721 Pokémon, we only know the creators of less than 100. I mean yes, the finalized designs are a team effort and then the final artwork is done by Ken Sugimori, but the idea for each Pokémon had to come from someone. I hope one day we get to find out just who designed who, honestly. --BlackButterfree (talk) 03:43, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

I wanted to add my thanks, so I figured it fits here: yeah, this is really interesting! Thank you, especially for adding to it for so long! I always wanted to know more about this, but most sources are pretty small. Apostrophe M (talk) 09:20, 24 December 2021 (UTC)

Surely impressive

I hope one day that makes a new page in Bulbapedia. By the way, it would be easier for the researches if the Pokémon that aren't still related with any designer were also listed (then we could search for them, one by one, instead of just looking to what we already have). Something like that for example (based in your Generation I (incomplete) list).

I agree with this. It'd be extremely easier. --BlackButterfree (talk) 03:13, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Interview Sources for Atsukoa Nishida?

I'd love to read the interviews with Nishida! Have you got links? Especially first generation, I'm the most curious about those ones.

This was listed on SnorlaxMonster's page. Apostrophe M (talk) 09:21, 24 December 2021 (UTC)

Kozaki Yusuke confirmed designs in 8th gen

Kozaki Yusuke has just confirmed on twitter that he designed Toxel, Toxtricity and Falinks for Pokémon Sword and Shield! Those are probably all his creatures design for the 8th gen.--Limb (talk) 08:32, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

TCG artists

If you didn't already notice this yourself, your credited designers for the Rotom formes match the artists who designed them for their debut in the TCG in the set 時の果ての絆 – localized as Rising Rivals for EN. I would suggest the following are worth following up on with whatever leads you have access to;

  • Hironobu Yoshida is known to have designed Wobbuffet, Celebi, Deoxys, and Frost Rotom, and illustrated their debuts in the TCG.
  • He also illustrated the debuts of Totodile, Aipom, Gligar, Scizor, Smeargle, Larvitar, Pupitar, Tyranitar, and Lugia. (Lugia in particular is very likely to be a Yoshida design.)
  • Atsuko Nishida illustrated Kricketot and Glaceon's debut.
  • She is known to have designed Oddish, Gloom, and Vileplume, so there is already reason to suspect she designed Bellossom, but she also illustrated Bellossom's debut in the TCG.
  • She is a regular contributor to the TCG so there will be false positives, but some I feel are not false positives include Dustox, Plusle, and Minun.

These are not the debuts of the Pokémon, but are the debuts (or final contribution) of the individual to the TCG;

  • Satoshi Ohta's first contribution to the TCG, Marill, predates his other contributions to the TCG by several years.
  • His contributions are uncommon. He may be Skitty, Jirachi, Carnivine, and/or Chatot's designer.
  • Kanako Eo's first contribution to the TCG, Shroomish, predates her other contributions to the TCG by a quite a few months.
  • Yusuke Ohmura's debut was with Bidoof.
  • Hiroki Fuchino was never a regular contributor to the TCG. Her debut in the TCG was Electrike – for the 2004 set 蒼空の激突.
  • Takao Unno was not a regular contributor, either. His debut in the TCG was Slakoth, Corphish, and Slakoth – for the 2004 set 蒼空の激突.
  • Asuka Iwashita was not a regular contributor, either. Her last card was Makuhita – for the 2004 set 蒼空の激突.
  • Aimi Tomita was not a regular contributor, either. Her last card was Poochyena – for the 2004 set 蒼空の激突.

There is also the DP era of the TCG, where Pokémon received special cards with Pokédex-like numbers exclusive to the TCG. In some cases artists appear to have made a point to illustrate the DPBP# card for the Pokémon they designed;

  • Atsuko Nishida illustrated Charmeleon, Bellsprout, Poliwag, Bellossom, Kricketot, and Glaceon.
  • Takao Unno illustrated Whismur.

DPBP cards whose designer is not known;

I do not guarantee any of these lists as complete or 100% accurate. Nonetheless, I hope it is helpful/of interest to yourself or other members. --INTERNETFRIEND (talk) 22:04, 30 September 2022 (UTC)

Gigantamax Pikachu

Melmetal

What is the source on Yoshida as the designer of Melmetal? It's leading to a bit of misinformation and it should probably be cleared up.
