The Pokémon Newspaper Strip was a short-lived daily comic strip run in American newspapers at the height of the Pokémon franchise's early popularity.

It was completely an American project, in art and writing. It was chiefly a gag comic.

It wasn't very popular, and was often highly criticized. The art was terrible and unprofessional, with characters (Pokémon and humans) often looking deformed, badly shaded, and poorly proportioned.

In addition, although it was loosely based on the Pokémon anime, the writing in the strip often seemed to indicate that the creators behind the project had little to no idea about the franchise they were even supposed to be writing about. One of the early infamous strips showed Misty taking her Squirtle to a school that both she and Ash attended.

Thankfully, the strip didn't last more than about a year, but a collection of the comics can be found in "Pikachu Meets the Press".
