This is a list of characters and their confirmed ages across the Pokémon franchise.
In the core series games
Kanto
- Red and Blue are 11 years old as Generation I, and 14 years old as of Generation II.
- Red's age is mentioned, and Blue is said to be the same age as him, in the player's story from the Japanese and English manuals of the Generation I games (except their ages are not mentioned in the English manual of Pokémon Yellow).
- Primo is 27 years old as of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen.
- His age is mentioned in the Japanese song "Teach Me, Poké Dude!" from the Pokémon FireRed & Pokémon LeafGreen: Super Music Collection.
Johto
- Pryce is older than 50 years old.
- The Gym guide states that Pryce has trained Pokémon for "some 50 years".
- Maximo is 30 years old as of Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.
- Maximo's age is not directly stated, but his twin brother Primo was 27 years old in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, set three years earlier before HeartGold and SoulSilver.
Hoenn
- Several character ages are mentioned in the Hoenn News Network from Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire:
- Brendan and May are 12 years old. Brendan's age is mentioned if the player is female, and May's age is mentioned if the player is male.
- Wally is 10 years old.
- Professor Birch is 35 years old.
- Professor Cozmo is 40 years old.
- Mr. Stone is 52 years old.
- Captain Stern is 57 years old.
- Mr. Briney is 72 years old.
- Steven Stone is 25 years old.
- He mentions his age in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire:
- "My father is... Well, let me just say that I have been his son for 25 years, and sometimes even I am not sure I understand him fully."
- He mentions his age in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire:
- Aarune is 25 years old.
- He mentions his age in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire:
- "The name's Aarune. Put'er there. Unova-born and twenty-five years old."
- He mentions his age in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire:
- Tabitha is 27 years old.
- He mentions his age only in Alpha Sapphire:
- "Hey! I, Tabitha, have only just turned 27! How old do you think I am?! I shall never forgive you!"
- He mentions his age only in Alpha Sapphire:
- Street Thug Hannibal, found on Route 123 in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, is 54 years old. In the French version, he first claims to be 50 years old and then corrects it to 54.
- Battle Maison characters from Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire:
- Beauty Bunnie pretends to be an adult, but she is 7 years old in the English, Japanese, and Korean versions, 13 years old in the German and Italian versions, or 15 years old in the Spanish version. Conversely, she is 45 years old in the French version, where she is pretending to be younger instead.
- Rising Star Elysia is 39 years old.
- Poké Fan Farida is 44 years old.
- Artist Rufous is 88 years old.
Sinnoh
- Professor Rowan is 60 years old.
- Cyrus is 27 years old.
- His age is mentioned by Looker in Pokémon Platinum:
- "...Whew. So, that was Cyrus, the boss of the Team Galactic. Quite the performance, no? Mesmerizing for one of only 27 years old."
- Caitlin is 14 years old as of Pokémon Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver.
Unova
- Hilbert, Hilda, Cheren, and Bianca are 14 years old as of Pokémon Black and White, and 16 years old as of Pokémon Black 2 and White 2.
- N is 20 years old as of Pokémon Black and White.
- A character in the Battle Subway is 14 years old.[citation needed] She has the same age in Pokémon Black and White as well as in Black 2 and White 2, despite the timeskip between the games.[citation needed]
- Queen Bellelba (fictional character portrayed by Sabrina) is going to be 108 years old in the current year, as of her appearance in the Mystery Doors of the Magical Land Series from the Pokéstar Studios in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2.
- Queen Bellelba mentions her age as part of her dialogue in the Strange Ending version of the 3rd episode ("Open a Door"), only if the player is male.
Kalos
- AZ is 3,000+ years old.
- Emma is 16 years old.
- Her age is mentioned on Xerosic's "Expansion Suit Field Trials: Secret Records".
- April, the host of the TV show Gym Freaks, is 30 years old.
- Madame Adele, found in the Battle Chateau, is 70 years old.
- Preschooler Jocelyne, found in the Battle Maison, is 4 years old.
Alola
- Elio, Selene, Hau, and Lillie are 11 years old in Pokémon Sun, Moon, Pokémon Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon.
- When asked by Wicke, Hau says that he is 11, which is the minimum age to enter the Island Challenge:
- The player can respond with either "Yeah, I am" or "How'd you know?".
- "Yeah, I took the first chance I had to join in the island challenge once I turned 11!"
- Elio and Selene are able to pay $1,000 to get into the Kantonian Gym, which is only allowed for children under 15 years old. They are also to buy Z-Noodles in Seafolk Village for $500, which is only allowed for people under 20 years old.
- Hau and Lillie are the same age as the player character, according to both the Pokémon Sun and Moon and Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon websites:
- "Hau is a Pokémon-loving young boy with a big appetite! He's the same age as your character."[5]
- "Lillie is a mysterious girl who assists the professor. This young girl is about the same age as your character, and she's working as Professor Kukui’s assistant for personal reasons."[5]
- "Hau is a boy who becomes your friend as soon as you move to Alola. He’s the same age as you. Hau is known to be a laid-back guy, but through the island challenge, he will come to terms with his reasons for participating in Pokémon battles."[6]
- "Lillie is a girl about your age. She’s acting as Professor Kukui’s assistant for her own reasons. After experiencing many things during her adventures with you, Lillie will discover a new side of herself."[6]
- The Trial Captains (Ilima, Lana, Kiawe, Mallow, Sophocles, Acerola, and Mina) as well as Hiker David are at least 11 years old and at most 19 years old in Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon.
- According to Hala, the children of Alola embark upon the island challenge once they turn 11:
- "The island challenge Kukui spoke of... It is a journey to overcome your own limitations, as you travel to the far corners of Alola and meet with others along the path. It is the great adventure that children in the Alola region embark upon, along with their Pokémon, once they reach 11 years of age!"
- According to Mallow, Trial Captains move on from that position once they turn 20:
- "I mean, we have to move on from being captains when we turn 20 anyway."
- According to Kiawe, Hiker David is being considered as Kiawe's replacement after he leaves his position.
- Molayne gave his position to Sophocles, implying that he is at least 20.
- According to Hala, the children of Alola embark upon the island challenge once they turn 11:
- Mina is 13–15 years old in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!.
- Her age is mentioned in concept art.
- Lusamine is older than 40 years old in Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon.
- When Hau reveals that he thinks she's not much older than him, she responds:
- "Oh, you sweet boy! I'm already over 40!"

Galar
- Sonia and Leon assert that they are adults and the player character (Victor or Gloria) and Hop are kids, but their actual ages are not otherwise known.
- After the strange earthquake in Hammerlocke, Sonia tells the player:
- "I'm really looking forward to seeing you compete in the Finals. So you should leave the investigation on the quaking to the adults."
- After losing his Champion title, Leon says to the crowd:
- "It's time we adults started working on improving the here and now, for the sake of all that's to come!"
- When the player and Hop come to help Leon on the Tower Summit, Leon tells them:
- "Thanks, Hop. And you, <player>. You two really have grown tremendously! But no need for you kids to worry."
- After the strange earthquake in Hammerlocke, Sonia tells the player:
- Melony is older than 29 years old as of Pokémon Sword and Shield.
- In her Normal League Card, it is stated that she has been a Gym Leader since she was in her twenties.
- Opal is 88 years old as of Pokémon Sword and Shield.
- When she asks the player how old she is during her Gym Battle, if the player answers "88 years old", she says:
- "Well, you're not wrong. But you could've been a little more sensitive."

- Mustard is older than 50 years old.
- His Rare League Card was taken 50 years before the events of Pokémon Sword and Shield.
- Avery says that he is an adult.
- "My goodness, this is a thick one. Like a poor, lost Wooloo... It's up to me- as an elegant adult- to make sure they get the message."
Hisui
- Rei and Akari are around 15 years old.
- Cyllene says that the player looks around 15:
- "Hmm. You look to be 15 or so. Quite old enough to work for your keep."
- Cyllene says that the player looks around 15:
- Calaba is 99 years old as of Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
- Her age is mentioned by Volo.
- "Miss Calaba is doing everything she can to regain the fragment, but at 99 years old... It's a bit hard for her to chase leads all over the place."

Paldea
- Dendra is 25 years old.
- "My age? 25! My hobby? Working out! My...type?! Well... Strong and muscular Fighting types, of course!"
- Ryme and Tyme are older than 53 years old.
- According to "The Musician's Register" magazine in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Ryme started her rap career 40+ years ago after her Puppy Pokémon died when she was a teenager.
Kitakami
- Carmine is implied to consider herself to be a kid, but her actual age is not otherwise known.
- When Carmine refers to the village kids, she includes herself among them.
- Kieran is implied to be a teenager (despite his older sister considering herself to be a kid as stated above), but his actual age is not otherwise known in most language versions. In the French version of the games, he is explicitly 14 years-old.
- Carmine says that Kieran is going through "teen angst", implying that he is a teenager. In other languages, Carmine simply attributes his behavior to puberty or adolescence.
In the side series games

Pokémon Masters EX
- In the English version, Thorton mentions that he is a teenager, therefore he should be 13–19 years old. However, in the Japanese version, he calls himself a 少年 (boy) instead. His age is not mentioned in the core series games.
- "You look like you're itching to know more about me! In other words, you'd like to interpret my data. Is that correct? If so, feel free! Let's see. Um... Male, teenager... No, that's not the sort of data you want, is it?"
- AZ is 3,000+ years old, as stated in the core series games.
- Caitlin, based on her design from Pokémon Black and White, mentions that she has reached adulthood, meaning she is at least 18 as of Generation V.
- "As I moved into adulthood, I was able to control my emotions better and better."
- A female Preschooler is 4 years old.
Pokémon Snap
- Todd Snap is 10 years old.
Detective Pikachu series
- Tim Goodman is 18 years old in Detective Pikachu, and 20 years old in Detective Pikachu Returns.
In the anime
Main series
- Ash, Gary, Misty, May, Dawn, Barry, Trip, Goh, Chloe, Sam, Alternate World Ash, and Alternate World Dawn are 10 years old.
- Ash's age was mentioned in the very first episode of the anime, as well as the first episode of Pokémon the Series: Black & White.
- In the Japanese version of Ash Catches a Pokémon, Misty mentions that she is ten years old.
- Ash, Goh, and Chloe's character profiles (in Japanese) mentioned their ages as of Pokémon Journeys: The Series.[9]
- In the English version of The Battle of the Badge, Ash mentions that it has been a year since he visited Viridian City. However, this remark was not present in the Japanese version, and it did not affect Ash's age stated in the anime.
- It is implied that one year passed between A Goldenrod Opportunity and Best Wishes Until We Meet Again! since the Magnet Train would take one year to be completed. However, this did not affect Ash's age either.
- Chloe's age was mentioned in JN119.
- Forrest, the rest of Brock's siblings, Bonnie, and Parker are younger than 10 years old.
- Max is 7 years old.
- Paul is 11 years old.
- Brock is 15 years old.
- His age is mentioned in concept art.
- James is 25 years old.
- In the Japanese version of The Power of One, Jessie says that Ash and Misty are 10 years too young to get focused on romance while James adds that he and Jessie are 5 years older than that.
- Jessie is 26 as of A Festival Trade! A Festival Farewell?.
- In A Festival Trade! A Festival Farewell?, Jessie mentions that Pumpkaboo was the only one who remembered her birthday, which happened some time after she caught her.
- Professor Oak is 50 years old as of Celebi: The Voice of the Forest.
- Daisy, Violet, and Lily are at least 15 years old.[citation needed]
- Molly Hale is 5 years old.
- Flint is at least 20 years old.
- Shinobu is 100 years old.
Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle
- Koko is at least 10 years old.

- Red, Blue, and Green are 11 years old in the Red, Green & Blue arc. They are 20 years old in their latest appearance from the Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arc.
- Yellow is 9 years old in her minor appearance from the Red, Green & Blue arc. She is 11 years old when she first appears as a main character in the Yellow arc. She is 15 years old in her latest appearance from the Emerald arc.
- Gold, Silver, and Crystal are 11 years old in the Gold, Silver & Crystal arc. They are 17 years old in their latest appearance from the Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arc.
- Ruby is 11 years old in the Ruby & Sapphire arc, his birthday being at the start of this arc. He is 15 years old in his latest appearance from the Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arc.
- Sapphire is 10 and then later 11 years old in the Ruby & Sapphire arc, her birthday being at the end of this arc. She is 15 years old in her latest appearance from the Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arc.
- Emerald is 11 years old in the Emerald arc. He is 14 years old in his latest appearance from the Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arc.
- Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum are 12 years old in the Diamond & Pearl arc as well as the Platinum arc.
- Black, White, Cheren, and Bianca are 14 years old in the Black & White arc, and then 16 years old in the Black 2 & White 2 arc.
- Blake, Whitley, and Hugh are 12 years old in the Black 2 & White 2 arc.
- X and Y are 12 years old in the X & Y arc.
- Sun and Moon are 11 years old in the Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon arc.
Other characters
- Bill is 15 years old in the Red, Green & Blue arc.[10][11] He is 24 years old in his latest appearance from the Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arc.
- Will is 17 years old and Karen is 20 years old in the Gold, Silver & Crystal arc.[citation needed] They are 20 years old and 23 years old, respectively, in their latest appearance from the HeartGold & SoulSilver arc.[citation needed]
- Carl is 26 years old and Sham is 23 years old in the Gold, Silver & Crystal arc.[citation needed]
- Leo is 9 years old in the Black & White arc, and then 11 years old in the Black 2 & White 2 arc.
